i dont have custom tune. there are not any companies that have released a GOOD tune for the 5.7. unichip is about the only one that would be worth buying, it costs $700+, and i dont think it is worth that.

and no, i have no corrected for the larger tires. stock tires are 32'', these tires are 33'', so there isnt alot of difference. and when i told the story above, i compensated for the difference. when i say i was going 65....i had the cruise set at 63.

We have a 2008 Tundra with the 5.7 motor and pull a 28' TT 1999 Gulf Stream. You don't even know the trailer is there. We put it on cruise and go on down the highway. The trailer weighs around 6000lbs. I am not sure what your problem could be but our tundra has no problems. The towing capasity is around 10,000lbs. I really do think your truck has issues!!

I have a 2008 Tundra TRD 4wd with 4.30 axle ratio. I recently sold my 31' Toy Hauler that weighed 9500lbs fully loaded. I didn't have any probs towing at all. It justs used a whole lot of fuel above 70 but would pull at 75 easily. Upgrading to a fiver next month with a dry weight of 7900lbs. I'm not expecting to have any probs towing this trailer either but will upgrade to Load Range E tires before I haul the fifth wheel.

I don't use the cruise control when towing and only use the Tow/Haul feature. I prefer to keep it at 60-65 for better economy (8-10mpg).

I would test drive another Tundra, hookup your trailer and see if the drag goes away.

I must agree with fellow tundra owners on here. I have a 2008 DC tundra with 5.7 4x4 I just purchased a 28 ft shockwave 5th wheel 6900 lbs dry. I added supersprings to the truck but it tows like a champ.

Add another Tundra owner to the mix. I have a 2007 5.7 4x4 TRD and have towed a 5k pound boat like it was not even there (ok, you could tell it was there...but it pulled really well). I am ordering a Rockwood 8306 today and expect to have no problems towing it.
