2011 Ford F-150, Ecoboost, Screw, Lariat, full size box, 3.73, not max tow, 7350# gvw,

Any issues with this first year production on their 6cyl, twin turbo, Ecoboost? I will be pulling my 2012 23ss ROO, likely loaded. Any issues with towing my ROO, 6347# max I believe on ROO. Live in Colorado mountain areas, want to keep this truck and ROO for awhile, no need to thinking we will be going bigger in TT.

Truck has only 25 k miles on it, in mint condition, no car flax issues, on dealer lot.

Should I consider purchase? $34k.

You will see in my signature what I drive and tow. I think that price is too high. Go to a local Ford dealer and look at the 2014's there looking to unload. I think you can do better if buying new. I only paid 7k more for mine when new and I have the Max Tow & HD Payload Pkg's.

Your box is 6.5' not full size 8'.

I believe your price is a bit high also. I traded in my 2011 Ecoboost for a 3/4 ton because we are going to a fifth wheel. We towed a 7000# empty Windjammer and the truck did great so I don't think you will have an issue there as far as your trailer. '15's are coming out so there should be some deals out there.

That price is WAY too high. I bought my '13 model just shy of a year ago for $31K and some change. It's not a Lariat, but it is the 302A XLT (IBC, rear camera, etc.) and had the 20" wheel option. Sticker price was $43,850 IIRC. I think you can buy a brand new one for pretty much the same money- at least within a couple thousand. Find one on a lot you like, ask to see invoice, and then pay no more than invoice BEFORE incentives. I think you'll be able to get 6-7K in incentives at most times. If not, wait, because they will offer that range. I think I got 7500 in incentives when I bought mine.

I dont know if the F150 Ecoboost is part of the promotion, but Ford just brought back the 0% 72 month deal. If you can get a new one at 0%, it will be a much better deal

Just run the numbers on the 0% option. You usually sacrifice several thousand in incentives when opting for that. My credit union offered 1.9% and I saved a lot by financing with Ford Credit, taking the rebates, and then refinancing after 3 months. Ford won't let you refi for 3 months.

Not completely true. You can refinance any time you want. It is no different then paying off the loan. The dealership does not WANT you to refinance before 3 months because they lose money from Ford. I have never seen anything in writing saying you can not do this.

I paid mine off with the first payment. Cost me $20 in interest to save $1000. In 2013 when I purchased mine you had to finance at least $7k.

I took the Ford financing for the rebate, $750 at the time. Never made a payment and refinanced with my credit union at 1.75% with a $250 bonus. So after giving Ford 34K for my new 2013 XLT with 3:55, tow package, rear camera, crewcab, chrome package, IBC, and other stuff, I ended up paying $33K. Love the EB. I towed my 26FS @6500 gross through the mountains of PA, the Adirondacks in NY, on a 1450 mile round trip. Used tow/haul mode in the hilly areas. Never had any issue with power. Set the cruise at 65 and always topped the crest at 65! Mileage towing was 10.5MPG.

For a 1/2 ton, the ecoboost is very nice but don't expect the towing milage to be exceptional as the turbos need to stay spinning while in tow to keep the torque up. If you want to stay in a 1/2 ton truck, also check out the new Dodge ecodiesel. Either one you get, I would also do air bags. Good luck!

Hey guys, I'd like your opinion. I'm new to RV'ing and I just purchased the 2014 Forrest River toy hauler Wolf Pac 28WP.
I have a Ford F-150, Echoboost, tow package and my axle ratio is 3.31.

Am I in trouble?

That's a lot of rig. Fully loaded you can probably manage, but don't plan on getting anywhere too quickly without sitting in overdrive. I would probably consider upgrading your tow vehicle. Really nice rig though

That 3.31 will kill your towing ability. What's the specs in the new toy hauler?

Yep, too much trailer for that setup. If you had 3.73 or 4.10 gears, you'd be marginal.

I recommend a 3/4 ton for that rig. I think the only 1/2 ton possibly up to the task
would be the new Dodge Ecodiesel with the HD tow package and then add air bags.

Another option is seeing if changing the rear gear in your truck to the 3.73 or a 4.10 is possible but like stated above, it still would be marginal.

The last 2 comments come from non Ecoboost owners, so take them with a grain of salt. My camper is longer and heavier than yours, 34.5' and 7952 sticker weight. I have the 3.55 gears and have pulled my rig close to 1500 miles since May and it has performed beautifully. I added Firestone airbags and Rancho RS9000XL shocks as the suspension is soft for ride comfort on the 1/2 tons. I also recommend going to an LT tire if you are running the stock P rated tires. I also opted for a ProPride 3P hitch because of the length of my trailer and the wheelbase of my truck (5.5' SCrew). I recommend you lock out 5th and 6th and pull in 4th with the 3.31's. I lock out 6th and pull in 5th at just over 2K RPM at 65. I have no regrets about my choice in towing rig. My last truck was a 2011 F250 with the 6.7 PSD and before that I ran a 97 F250 with 7.3 PSD and 5 speed manual. Have also towed with naturally aspirate V8's including the Ford 4.6 and 5.4L, so I have a pretty good base for comparison.

True, I have not owned an Ecoboost so you have real world info which is valuable. My experience in TV is large CI V8s (which I dislike now for towing) and non turbo and turbo diesels (GM 6.2 & 6.5TD, PSD 7.3 & 6.0, CTD 5.9 & 6.7, and LMM & LML Duramax).

I have seen the Ecoboost F150s at the drag strip running low 13s! I would like to also check out the Ecodiesels 1st hand.
