On one of the Dodge Hemi blogs, the cheapest best mod for mpg and towing was changing to a 189* t stat. Napa had it. No gasket needed. It was easy to install. The heat during the winter was fine. If you don't like it you can put the old one back in.

Had a 2006, about 8 mpg towing my 38' 9K trailer. No issues.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Definitely gets me excited to pull my trailer. Has anyone tried a throttle body spacer for "extra power" or is just a myth

We had a 2012 RAM 1500 with the Hemi and pulled 9200 lbs with no problems. We averaged 10 MPG. We added air bags and it was great. No problems towing.\

Did one on my Jeep, just a myth. Cold air intake is great though.

We love our 2011 Ram. Same engine and set up as yours. We have pulled our Windjammer over the Smokey Mountains two times without a problem or any white knuckles. And we had truck and trailer loaded down on both trips. The only thing to add is a drop down ladder on the tail gate. DH fell of the side of the bed one day while trying to get stuff out. We bought a ladder that attached to the tail gate and problem solved. Love our truck.

You will do fine with a gas TV, as long as you are ok with the speed that it is capable and comfortable doing. Don't push past that point on hills.

This isn't a gas vs diesel topic so I don't even know why you commented. I drive a semi daily so I know what they are capable of as far as fuel mileage and torque. However, I don't tow heavy enough to justify needing a diesel. Not only that, but I can run top of the line oils and filters at a huge fraction of what diesels can. And if I blow my motor, or tranny, it's cheaper to replace than to buy 6 or 8 quality injectors or a single turbo. So go find some 5.9 forum to brag on cause I could really care less about your cummins...

I wasn't trying to to be rude, just trying to figure out why you'd comment on a post that was specifically for a 5.7 hemi and not a cummins... someone always has to go and start a gas vs diesel argument so I wanted to nip it in the butt before it got to that. Once again, sorry for the blunt reply, I'm just tired of diesel owners thinking gas vehicles are a waste of time or money and are no good for towing.

^^This^^,! Awesome we hear this every day and I love my Hemi, I had a 2011 5.7L but only in the 1500, the 2500 Hemi is awesome and I don't mind the gas.

It's a 2500. You might get the feeling, you ain't got enough camper for it. Just see it this way - the 1500 can already tow 10k# with 3.92 rear end. Don't worry.
The mpg is, because the 5.7 has no mds in this config. But it's an awesome engine. I love it. I have "just" the 1500 but I can tell. This is one heck of an engine.
