2012 Rockwood 2109s Hitch/Sway Guidance
Hi Everyone, new to the forum,30+yrs of towing and RV'ing. My wife and i downsized from a Class C to a Rock wood mini 2109s.Just purchased it and the previous owner says he didn't get a equalizer and sway bar system.there are 2 holes on each side of the tongue,so I question that.He said he never used anything but the hitch and trailer brake inside his 2017Jeep Trail hawk.I would love some guidance on what system to get .we too will be getting the Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD with the factory tow pkg.my Rock wood weighs 3669 dry.Any guidance would be appreciated.Thank You

The previous owner didn't NOT have an Equal-i-zer WDH, since they don't require drilling nor separate sway bars.
What he he probably had was an old technology WDH with separate anti-sway bars. They require drilling on the A-frame.

Equalizer - and I would go for the new design as it is easier to get at the nut on the ball without a special socket, and there are zerks to grease the joints on the head. I have the old one with a larger trailer and it is great.

Equalizer is the brand name. As for the model number there are two styles (the older one and the newer one) and the arms are chosen by the weight of your trailer. www.equalizerhitch.com etrailer sells them as do many RV dealers. I could not find the new model online but I saw it at my dealer just today.

We use an Andersen WDH which works fine with our 2104S. We originally had the equalizer 4-point on our previous TT but it was too heavy for me to lift. In comparing the two based on my experience the Andersen is lighter, has just as good if not better sway control, easier setup, and distributes the weight to the front steering wheels properly. Our TT is fairly light like yours (4,400 lbs dry). Not sure Andersen would be appropriate for heavy TTs from other's posts though.

Tigger is right about the weight of the Equalizer hitch head. If you get the Equalizer also buy the Hitchgrip ( http://hitchgrip.com). It makes handling the head easier and cleaner. It’s about $30 something.

Thanks for all the support.over the last 10 years we've had 2 class c's so I'm a little rusty on the hitch /sway situation.its all coming back.I had a 31' kz jag with the equalizer system, very heavy.I'm leaning towards the anderson system because of the whole kit weighs 60 lbs.I'm still open to suggestions.and the hitch grip seems very cool as well. Thanks for the suggestions

Our previous TT was a 2014 2109S. We used an Equal-i-zer 600/6,000 lb hitch and found it to be well matched to the TT. You definitely want some kind of weight distribution and sway control. In fact, I still have the hitch and would be willing to sell it. We used it for 3 years and it's in very good condition. This year we upgraded to a larger TT and therefore also had to upgrade to a higher capacity hitch. If you're interested, send me a private message or email me directly at markulmer@charter.net.

I have a Blue Ox. My in laws have the equalizer 4 point. I have towed both and like them both for different reasons. Blue ox is easy to set up as far as out of the box. It’s also easy to set up for you are ready to tow and as far as towing with it I have no issues. The equalizer takes a little longer for initial set up and to hook up for towing. Both work great in my book. You can’t really go wrong with either. Good luck.

We just got a new Grey Wolf 23MK, about 6000 lbs. and a new Anderson hitch. I can't say enough good about it compared to the old WDH I had with an older trailer of about the same size. I highly recommend the Anderson.
