Do you think it might be worth a try?

I know absolutely nothing about diesel engines but I think 35mpg unloaded and 25mpg pulling a 14000# trailer is a stretch. I have only had my truck since last September. I had a Toyota Tundra that I pulled my 10,000# FW. The best I did pulling trailer to North Fort Myers, Florida was 11.061mpg. Normally I would get 8.3 and 9.4mpg at 60mph. I love Toyotas and hated to part with mine but planning to go out west and was not sure the Toyota could handle it. Unloaded cruising at 65mph the best I got was 17.5 mpg.
Here is why I like my diesel truck. It has so much power I can hardly tell my FW is behind me. Going to Florida I had to use cruise control to keep from speeding. With cruise set at 65 I got 12.1 mpg. On the way home I set cruise to 60 and got 12.9 mpg. On way way back with my Toyota last year I got 9.4 with cruise set at 60.
Unloaded and setting cruise at 65 my diesel truck got 23.4 mpg.
Waiting for the popcorn.
