2013 Denali HD

Can anyone confirm what the towing capacity is? I'm confused as to conflicting numbers I'm seeing on different sites. It has the Duramax 6.6, not a long bed. We are looking to upgrade from our 26rr to a fifth wheel, and want to make sure I know what I can and can't do. The DW is starting to find things that I know I'd need a 450 for, and I keep telling her to get away from those monsters

A Denali what? Lots of Denalis.

If you want a fifth wheel, IGNORE all the towing capacity numbers UNTIL you have determined the pin weight and the Payload of your truck. Only when you are sure you have enough payload for all cargo and passengers AND pin weight, then worry about other numbers.

It's a Sierra 2500 Denali HD PU, 2013. Not sure an SUV can do the fifth wheel thing. Sarcasm inserted.

Some use 2500's for fifth wheels. Have to be a light one.

I had a 2500 with the bumper pull TT. Traded up to 3500 dually to get a fifth wheel. My kingpin weight is probably 3,000 lbs.....plus all truck cargo, fuel, and passengers.......the 3/4 ton only had 2,286 total capacity, so I blew that up and had to move up.

Being you have the pick up with 3/4 durmax you can tow a pretty good size 5er as long as you do home work for tow ratings and pin weight. Sorry typed in wrong vehicle for towing 5er Later RJD

Just find your truck in the towing guide. No guessing.

Look on your door jam at the yellow sticker and it has payload on it. Use that number and plug it into the site below and fill in the rest of the blanks and that will give you max weight of 5er you can pull and say within the payload specs of your truck.

I had a 2013 GMC 2500HD Denali with the 6.0L gas engine and my payload was 2700 lbs.

I figured 1000 lbs for passengers and gear in the truck and I had 1700 lbs left for pin weight.

Pin weight you see on the web sites for 5th wheels I believe is for the dry weight, no propane tanks, no battery. So I was thinking that if I put clothes, groceries, propane, batteries, dishes, pots, pans, plates, utensils, cups, wheel chocks, tools, hoses, power cords, etc., etc. in the trailer the pin weight would increase by 20% to 25% of the additional weight I added. Lets say I added another 1000 lbs of stuff, that would increase the pin weight by 200 to 250 lbs.

Now I'm down to a pin weight of 1400 to 1500 lbs. I couldn't find anything that worked for me with that kind of pin weight but you may be able to. I upgraded to a F350 SRW.

The GM towing guide said my max 5th wheel towing was 14000 lbs if I remember correctly. that would give me a pin weight of most of my payload, so be wary when you read the towing specs on the truck.

I towed my 2014 V Cross Platinum 365VTSB with my 2014 250HD standard bed 4x4. I had air bags on it and it pulled, stopped, ect no issues. My fiver weighs 10.4k dry and 12K fully loaded. I did roll her one the scales and it turned out I was about 450lbs over max combined but not over any axle ratings. You should be good with a fiver up to 10-11K and a pin weight of ~2K with a 3/4 ton Denali 2500. Little more with a 3500 SRW and a whole lot more with a 3500 dually.
