2014 2500HD Fuel Mileage?

I was just wondering if anyone here had the 2014 Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab, with the 6.0, and what kind of mileage you were getting with a trailer, and without?

Had one....the day I traded it about 6 weeks ago, the dash board menu said my average fuel mileage was 9.1......traded it for a 2012 GMC 2500HD with Duramax/Allison.

I have a Denali 1500 with a 6.0 and get around 17 unloaded and 10 loaded. I do have a custom tune on the computer that makes a little bit of a difference.

I got 7 towing, 13 not towing. Duramax now, 12 towing, 20 not towing

I have a 2011, with the 3.73 rear diff, and the 6.0L. I get on average 8.5 towing, and 16-18 not towing depending if I am doing a fair bit of city driving or not. The 6.0L has lots of power and handles our trailer quite nicely, but it is thirsty towing. Truth be told, if people are being honest with you, they are all thirsty towing, it's simply part of the game!

The 6.0 will pull but realistically, if your towing I'd be surprised to get into double digits with fuel mileage, duramax, I'm like everyone else 12-13 towing and up to 20 empty. I use fully app. and we average 14.2 this is with my wife driving in town, and towing our 5er. I very rarely get to drive her truck empty on the highway, bummer!

Granted....but one needs to ask themselves if the increased cost is warranted...all depends how much you will tow, and where. The purchase will be about 9-10k more and with diesel running .90-$1 more per gallon, it's getting increasingly more difficult to justify, for me and my current needs anyhow. Once we are both retired and traveling more, it may make sense and we will revisit it at that time. Plus if you are using it as a daily vehicle to get to work, etc, and live in a cold climate, it may not be whats best for that vehicle.

they are not 10k more to buy and diesel is not $1 more per gallon. It's about 7k more to buy, and it will always be worth 7k more than a equal gas truck. With the major increase in mileage, the slight cost per gallon difference is more than made up for. Cost me 19 cents per mile more to tow with gas versus diesel.

All depends where you live...where I am average price for gasoline is 1.08 a litre, diesel is 1.31, .23cents a litre diff is equivalent to 1.03 more per gallon...

Funny it always comes up to fuel mileage, extra maintenance, fuel cost.
My wife's daily driver was an 03 Tahoe, MAYBE got 14mpg, her same commute, and combined with towing our 5er we average 14mpg with our duramax, I'll take that all day long, I do all my own maintenance and honestly, I don't know why everyone thinks it's so much more to maintain a diesel, ok the oil is a little more, but we run it longer, the fuel filter is a little more, but we run those longer also, for me I don't see the maintenance argument.

No one buys a diesel to save money, they buy one because they want or need one. Like all the other stuff on a truck. Leather seats, nav, sunroof, fancy trims, etc. No one needs all that but they get it.

I don't have leather, nav, or any of the other unnecessary options. Without that stuff, my moderately equipped 1 ton diesel cost the same as a half ton. I can tow twice as much using half the fuel as a half ton, so guess I am saving money. Diesel resale value will always be several thousand higher to.

x2, I bought a Ram 2500 CTD ST CC LB 4x4 for the same as I could've bought (ordered) an F150 XL HD payload 3.5 EB Scab 8' bed. The ST with the xtra packages is way nicer than Fords XL trims. I got $10,000 off msrp. Couldn't of got that when ordering the F150. Also with the Ram 8' bed I got a crew cab. With the F150 8' bed you can only get the reg or super cab versions. Didn't want the reg cab and don't like the goofy super cab doors. Bad idea when trying to load stuff in the truck while in a parking lot.

I passed on bling for a bigger truck.

My 2014 GMC Duramax new cost me $44,000 with discounts this year. I just looked up a 2008 GMC Duramax with 100,000 miles, same options and is listed for $30,000. So, with better fuel mileage and a great resale how can you go wrong? 2008 vs 2014, $14,000 difference plus the new one has full warranty. How does the gas stack up?

Absolutely skip on the GM 6.0 gasser...power & mileage stinks but the rest of the truck is a brute for towing

I didn't mean to spark a debate on gas or diesel, and I guess I should have been a little more specific in my question. And for the record, I personally would never buy the diesel, it just doesn't fit my needs. If I used my truck for nothing but towing, then it may be a different story.

My camper is on a seasonal site, and only gets pulled off a couple of times a year. Usually when it does get pulled off, I take it on a fairly long trip. Last summer we made one trip from NE Ohio to Indiana, and one trip to Florida. My truck is more of an everyday driver, so I was honestly more interested in the mileage when it's not hooked to the trailer. I currently own the 2013 Silverado 1500, with the 5.3, and get around 18 on the Hwy, and 13-14 in the city. I know GM made some decent fuel mileage increases in the 2014 5.3 in the 1500, and was curious if they had done the same with the 6.0 in the 2500HD, and that is the reason for the question. I am truly curious about the mileage in the 2014 2500HD, with the 6.0, and only the 2014 2500HD with the 6.0, as that is what I will probably be buying, if I buy anything.

I am extremely happy with my current truck, but after my last trip to FL decided that the 2500 may be the better option. When we travel with the trailer, we have to be extremely cautious about what we pack, as it doesn't take much to throw us over the weight limitations of the truck. I also had a little more sway on the last trip than I am comfortable with. We did so some purging of things we don't need to have in the camper, but I think it's time to make the change if I can make the right deal.

I've had my 2014 Duramax for almost a year and have NEVER gotten above 15 mpg empty. I'll get 10-12 towing 8500lbs depending on terrain but the empty mileage is steady at 14.6.

I've averaged 21 for a full tank not towing with my 3500 Duramax. Super happy with that since its no where near broke in with only 8000 miles on it. When I had my 6.0 gas, it was rare to see better than 14 not towing.
