2009 chevy 6.0 4.10 crew cab long box- pull 13k 5th wheel columbus 365rl 6.5 mpg pulling, lucky it uses so much gas it's easier to check milage every 200 miles at file ups.
I have had both diesel and gas, diesels are nice in fact real nice but now I only pull 25 miles at a time each way and twice a year 300 round trip. So it's not worth to have the diesel anymore, but if you plan to travel 4-5 hrs more the 3-4 times a year it would be worth it. All depends how deep you pocket is and how patient you are.....
And to figure someone's milage remove 3 mpg from The story- it usually happened 1 time-perfect condition and the wife drove half it

not true here. Anything my wife drives with her heavy foot gets 3-5 less MPG than what I would get

wish i had went with the diesel first time but talked myself out of it
BAD me, live and learn, the diesel is twice the truck IMO

Only had it a week so far. 1200 miles, so it's nowhere near being broke in. At the campground for deer season, and driving a combination of back roads with lots of hills, and maybe 20 miles one way on a flat 4 lane highway with a 60 MPH speed limit. Been averaging 13.5 to 14 on that round trip daily, about 45 miles total one way. I got about 14.5 on the trip down here, about 100 miles, mostly interstate. I don't plan to hook the camper until late spring, early summer, but if I manage to get 9 mpg while pulling it I'll be happy. If I'm able to level out at 15-16 on the highway (not towing) once it's broken in, that would be awesome. Time will tell.

You'll love the way it pulls and you should see improved mileage as time goes. I get 10+ pulling 14k, and 15.5 average daily commute to work with an even mix of city and highway.

Thanks for the reply. I've had mine for about two months now, and I am getting around 10-12 running around the city empty. I got 14.5 on the hwy, empty for the most part, just after I bought it, but I haven't had it on a trip since. I still haven't hooked it to a trailer yet, but will see what happens when I do.
Very happy with the truck, even though I liked the ride, and the fuel mileage of the 1500 better. I sure once I hook it up, and drag the camper down the road, I'll like it even more!
