2014 F350 - New tow vehicle

Picked this beauty up yesterday. I was really leaning towards getting a Ram 3500 MegaCab SB SRW but we found this one and couldn't pass it up. It's a 2014 F350 PowerStroke Platinum Edition SB SRW with the FX4 offroad package. It only has 25,000 miles on it. It's got 11,500 GVWR, comes with 3.55 rear end and 3511lbs cargo capacity (per the door sticker) and 20inch wheels and tires. Has every other bell and whistle they could think of. Only thing I wanted that it doesn't have is the factory 5th wheel prep package. I haven't decided on a hitch yet, but hoping to go with underbed rails to keep the bed looking clean. Now to get the 5er.

Good looking rig for sure !!!
Are you sure about the 11,000 GV ? my GMC 2500HD is rated higher than that. I know my cargo isn't as high as yours, but the GV is.

I think you are thinking towing Capacity. Your trucks gvwr will be 10000 lb.

Yep, 11,500lb GVWR, 3511lb payload. 5th wheel capacity is probably around 15,700lbs.

Gsykora, the factory puck system can be added at a dealer. The ford puck system is made by Reese and can also be installed by them. It really is just a bolt on system with nice hole covers in the bed.

The only problem I found with the factory system was finding a ISR rail adapter that did not raise my hitch to high, I finally went with the Demco unit it is only 2 1/2 inches high all other are 3 inches or higher. The worst was Pullrite at 5 1/2 inches. I have the Pullrite ISR Superglide. My hitch sets at 19 1/2 inches in the bed even at that height I still had a nose high condition that needed fixed to get my RV almost level.

Very nice truck! Here’s a pic of my SuperGlide on a Reese rail system that’s universal for any factory puck set up. The rails only lifted the hitch about 1 3/4”. The beauty of it is I can remove everything and cover the holes in the bed. Click image for larger version

I do not have a Anderson Hitch and not a fan of the Anderson, BUT, you can install a removable Goose Ball and use it to hook the Anderson hitch to. Simple, Light Weight, cost effective, clean bed, and they sell thousands of them.

That's what I would do. Good Luck

BTW Lippert also makes a Pin Box that will hook directly to the Goose Ball, Simpler yet.

When Looking for your Fifth Wheel do your homework, most new fifth wheels do not require a slider (movable) hitch on short bed trucks by design. Your dealer should be able to provide clearance data or ask here on the forum.

Chris Allen I wanted that same adapter for my truck, you are correct it is only about 1 3/4 inches high, but that style only fits the Ram puck system, The Ford adapter is totally different and sets 3 1/4 inch high.

I do not know why they are so different, but I was really disappointed when I found it would not fit.

Oh wow. I did not know that. That’s a bummer too because it’s a nice set up. I do obviously have a Ram.

Ford

Hard to beat Ford pickup trucks. My 2017 XLT Screw F150 performs better than expected.

Get a PullRite automatic slider with supper rails and your bed will be clean when removed. Never worry about trailer hitting truck during turns.

I’ve got a Demco Hijacker I’m thinking of selling. It’s made to fit the under bed rails on my 2015 F-350. Look at the videos on Etrailer.com for a full description if you are interested.
