Does he really think that doing this regularly, working the engine so it's only getting 6mpg, will result in the same longevity as sticking to the ratings?

Maybe he stated that in a later post in that thread. I didn't have time to read on.
This is why buying a good clean used truck is so challenging...and also why I ended up with a brand new F150...which to this day I adore.

I think not only finding a clean used one for a decent price but one that has not been beat up. I have a 2014 FX4 but I may turn it in off the lease and get a new White XLT now that you can get the center console and GPS with Sync in the 2015's

Was it worth the savings over a new one? I wanted to start fresh so I leased with option to buy it but now that I like my F150 I will buy it from Ford Motor Credit. I just can justify a Diesel to pull a 5100# Roo Hybrid

Just couldn't afford a new one. Not sure how many people can afford these new trucks. I'm not a chrome guy so I really liked the the look of the FX4s. Original Msrp on my truck was $48,000.

Sticker on mine was $55,000 most dealers were selling for $51-$53, I got a really good deal paid below $50 because it was a dealer demo with 1,400 Miles. Ford had a lease special .09% 24 month lease then they certify pre owned with Warranty to 150K but my credit union seems to have a better finance rate. I either buy it next June or may go for a new F150 we will see I like the interior on my FX4 Luxury Package with the red stripes, hate full leather especially in the cold or heat 😎

They don't lease F250/350's unless you pay a ridiculous rate and can't see paying $60K for something I don't really need.

You could have bought that truck new for ~$36,000. This is best case scenario with the highest incentives that typically only occur once or twice a year, but when Ford runs the $6K-$8K incentives it can be done. So, unless you paid at most upper $20's I think you would have done better going new. Just my .02.

2014 Ford F150 EcoBoost

Well I live in Canada and our truck runs with 800-1000 lbs in box always. I am a paraplegic so There is a power wheel chair and lift in box 24/7 along with a canopy lifter along with 2 dogs and all the gear my wife say important. When we bought it we used 89 octane fuel and my exhaust was alway BLACK and we averaged 16.7 -14.8 L/100 km or 14 mpg - 15.9 mpg and all I did was switch to 91 octane fuel and on hwy. we average 10.2 l/100km or 23 mpg. That is what has been it's diet since and now the exhaust is a light grey. The performance jumped unbelievably. We are about to head out on a cross Canada tour with our 2600 Rockwood Ultalite and the little we have towed the trailer approx. 500 - 600 miles it seems to just flow along effortlessly. Yes, as far as we are concerned Ford hit this right out of the park. Will let you know on what it does at the end of our trip. Prior to this vehicle we had a 2001 Ford E150 w/5.4L and you don't want to know what the fuel milage was pulling our trailer. The van turn in to service stations all on it's own. All I know is that V10 powered motorhome got better MPG than I got with that van.

You all have a great summer
