2015 Ford F150 Features

I am getting ready to buy an F150 King Ranch 3.5 EB w/ 3.55 gears. I originally wanted to get the 2.7 EB, but can't get all of the features I want with that engine. Not real concerned with gas as my current truck / SUV only gets 7mpg when traveling, so anything beyond that will be an improvement. Also, hate the idea of not having good towing mirrors and near max weight limit of the vehicle...

Any specific features you guys have that you would not do without?

thanks,

Gary

Get the HD package... It allows more payload without a hit in MPG.

Max Trailer Tow Package is on the one I am looking at. I read somewhere that the towing capacity was 10,700 but I cannot find where that was stated. I would have thought there would be more towing capacity. There are so many combinations that it is hard to decipher what exactly is the best layout...

Ford went and changed the option packages for the 2015 so I am not as up to speed on them as I used to be. It used to be that if you had the tow-max package you would get the 3.73's, tow mirrors, upgraded radiator and transmission cooler, integrated brake control, and #7700 GVWR, but I think it has changed.

To get the max towing capability you will need the 3.73's. That will get you up to the 11,500-12,200 tow range, depending on cab configuration and 2 or 4 wheel drive. The Heavy-Duty-Payload-package will get you the #7850 GVWR on the truck.

Don't forget Ford dropped about #700 off the overall weight of these trucks for 2015 so the ratings may not seem impressive until you factor that in.

I think for me the most valuable feature has been the backup camera. I have a bumper pull trailer and this makes it so easy when hitching up...no more guessing or having to have a spotter.

Pay close attention to the payload capacity. The King Ranch version eats up a lot of available payload compared to lesser equipped models. You need to decide if you want a functional towing vehicle or a tricked out cruiser.

I traded my 2011 F150 Ecoboost with 3.73 gears for a 2015. I really liked my 11 and towed my 8,000 lb toyhauler out west for a total of about 30,000 miles. I really liked the truck and it pulled great. I have only towed with the 15 for about 300 miles and it pulled really well. We leave for Las Vegas in the morning and will travel for a couple of months so I can give better reports over the next few days if you are interested.

I ordered the Max Tow package (which now has 3.55 gears), 36 gallon fuel tank, power mirrors and the 502a package which has all the luxury stuff. Payload is 1,655 per the door sticker. Max tow capacity is 10,700 on my supercrew 4x4.

So far, I am very happy with the truck. Pulled the trailer with very little effort and handled well.

Owned a 13 Eco F150 King Ranch. The Payload was close to 500 lbs less than a XLT version. Might be able to just buy a lariat, which I did to get most options I wanted with my F250 and still maintain my CCC.

Thanks for all of the replies. I want all of the technology so it will have to be the Platinum or the King Ranch. I having been driving Fords (cars) for a few years and my current vehicles have all of the options. I strongly believe in adaptive cruise and camera systems. I think they are a must for anyone who drives any distance. So far I have found everything I want in the truck except the towing mirrors. They are a rare option on the F150, but common on the Super Duty. We only tow about 10 times a year and this will be my wife's vehicle for which she only drives about 5k miles a year. I may end up settling for everything I am wanting minus the tow mirrors. My wife says the tow mirrors are ugly anyway. Will keep everyone posted.

Here is the link to get the info you require. I have a 2015 F150 Ecoboost 4x2 with the max tow package. Truck is listed as being able to tow 11,900 lbs with the max tow package. Hope this helps.

With the model of truck your looking at...I believe you have all the bells and whistles !
What I really like on mine is the backup camera...makes it very easy to hitch the trailer.
