2016 F350 Scheduled Maintenance

I am considering buying the Ford Premium Maintenance Plan for my 2016 F350 Truck. Does anyone know what the typical 5000 mile maintenance cost is? A 5yr/60K plan costs $3K. That's about $248 per 5000 mile service. Don't usually buy these plans but a couple of people have said it is a good deal. My truck has 3500 now but I traditionally drive only about 8000 miles per year. I've had it for 3 months now and have driven it more than I normally would.

I can get you the plan at $100 over cost, PM me if you are looking, it will be cheaper then $3,000 (I have a good contact that I've sent 100+ people to all done over the phone).

Can't help with the maintenance plan pricing; but just did the 5000 mile (8000 km) service on my truck... $242 cdn, which would be about $200 us.

if your going to buy one, make sure it's a Ford plan. No aftermarket ones. Either way, I think it would be cheaper to pay for the maintenance as needed. Not much required by 60,000. Several oil changes and and tire rotations, and a couple fuel filters

I also drive around 8,000 miles a year. I have my tires rotated and oil change every 5,000 miles and costs me $139.00 at a Ford dealer. I have the fuel filters changed every 10,000 miles and costs $120.00 at Ford dealer. With the fuel filters, I found Motorcraft fuel filters on Amazon for $50 and change those myself now. (takes about 20 min. youtube it). I have 35,000 on my truck now so if you figure I have had 7 oil changes done, I have spent $973. I don't do my own oil because it is 13 qts of oil and I also don't have a easy way to rotate tires.

We have about 15k on our 2014 Ford F350 and the only required maintenance so far has been a couple of oil changes (currently needs the fuel filters changed too per severe duty service schedule). I don't trust dealers to tell me what is required (at 5k miles or any other time) so I only go by the owner's manual specified service requirements.

One thing that even our dealer wasn't aware of that's in our owner's manual is that if you use the vehicle primarily to tow a trailer (severe duty service) than Ford recommends full synthetic oil (5W-40) be used (pg 43 of the Diesel Supplement). I believe it's also a 'hidden' requirement to change the oil once a year (Note 1 on pg 62) regardless of miles driven or the oil life monitor status. Both seem silly to me, but I'm sure it would come up in any warranty claim.

When we looked into the maintenance plans they didn't seem to make much sense for us as we don't drive enough miles in a year to really benefit from the plan(s) in the allotted time frame(s).

I see where is says 5W-40 recommended, but is doesn't say anything about synthetic. I might be wrong, but I think most or all are either full synthetic or blends anyhow.

I did purchase a plan for my F250. To date with 2 service intervals I have spent $575 cash otherwise. With a brake service poor to expiry at 100,000 km my 2 grand investment is more than paid.

Seems a little expensive to own a Ford.
