My 2013 Ram 2500 has a light load function and has 2 pressure ratings on the door sill. 60 up fro t all the time and 75 full load 45 light load in the rear. My 2008 Ram 2500 had the same. It's odd that they changed that for the 2016's.

Ok folks here is the latest on this issue. There are ALOT of Ram owners that take issue with this 60/80 PSI BS. From the Cummins/Ram forums:

How to set TPMS to ANY pressure - Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum

HD Tire Pressure Monitoring System Reset - DODGE RAM FORUM - Dodge Truck Forums

Apparently dealers were able to lower TPMS thresholds until FCA released an update to their scan tools taking the option away earlier this year. This is all thanks to the federal government regulating every vehicle under 10000 GVW. 3500s have a TPIS; just an indicator system, no alarms.

There are apparently a few ways to work around this:

-There is a shop owner/tech in Birmingham, AL that spent thousands on code software and has a fix. He no longer charges $100 to change it, he will do it for free if you bring your truck to his shop. You will need your trucks PIN(key) number obtainable from the dealer parts dept. He has done TPMS tours of parts of the country fixing peoples trucks.

-Find a willing dealer that still has WiTech1 equipment that has not been updated. WiTech2 equipment will not work.

-Use a Bully Dog tuner to change the thresholds yourself, then bring the truck to dealer to do a "RFH Replace" reset (WiTech2 can do this).

I go through Mobile, AL a few times a year and plan to detour to Birmingham next trip out.

Also folks FYI,

The TPMS will alarm when your pressure get 20% percent below the sticker pressures so:

60PSI will alarm at 48 PSI

80PSI will alarm at 64 PSI

This makes sense as I am only getting alarms for the rear tires at 55 front, 50 rear.

Be aware that if you get an alarm you have to air back up to 80 PSI to clear it on the rear....Ridiculous

On my 2008, I get a ding for ever, tire four of them and the flashing idiot light for a minute or so than it will stop blinking and will stay on until the engine is turned off. You do not need to do anything about this useless feature, it will not derate the engine or cause the truck to go into limp mode.

On my summer towing tires LT285/70 17 126R Nitto Dural Grappler tires, I did not even have the sensors installed on the rims. I did not want to pay for a useless feature that will tell me my air inflation is incorrect because of some idiot big brother idea. When I use my winter tires I only get two dings and the flashing light sine the rear are air down to 45 PSI which is safer on a wet/snowy and ice roads. Full tire contact instead of just the center of the tire when aired to 80 PSI.

I check my tire air pressures ever month on both of my vehicles with an air gage and fill the tires accordingly at home. If people had done this in the past we would not have this useless feature on the vehicles.
