Is that a new engine? I have a 2015.5 and it is a beast towing. If it is a brand new engine / design... Good luck. I am sure it will be good but I hate getting the first run of anything.

The redesign was to handle the increase torque and horsepower. But we will see.

An engineer that works at my plant was going to buy one, but was told they are on a ship hold, and wouldn't sell the one on the lot.

He said the hold was for already manufactured trucks...plus he found a smoking deal on a '16, so he grabbed that.

I liked that the full tourqe on the l5p is available in first gear where as others need to shift a gear or two to get to full torque availability.

We have sold a few of them already to customers. The feedback I get from them is astounding. They love them compared to their 15's and 16's with the LML. I have done extensive training on the L5P and it is an amazing engine. However, I do know that some were on hold before being delivered to dealers due to "quality control". I cannot elaborate as to why.

2017 Chevy 3500HD

I have one for about a month. Have only towed my trailer for about 20 miles so far but love it. I got 22 miles per gallon going hiway between KCMO and St. Louis. I'll take that in a one ton any day. City driving I'm averaging 17.5mpg. Love the power. I had to learn to stay off of it. It is very powerful.

I'm a little disappointed. I'm barely averaging 14.8 mpg with my '16 F250 PowerStroke when not towing. Love the truck, but I was hoping for a little better mileage. Mileage is about 28 K, so I think it's broken in.

Yeah wow I would have thought better as well. I get 11 up 13 towing at times. Air filter clean? My milage does drop in the winter though from preheating the truck and winter blend. I have also found that 63 (weird number) seems to be the sweet spot for my truck and getting up to 19 on the highway (no towing of course)

Won't know till April when I get my l5p. My mechanic recommended to stay away from powerstroke. Cummins is better but the truck is still questionable. We will see later.

Update have 2000 k on my new Denali duramax HD my average mpg has been 15 mpg overall. Mostly city driving. One extended trip of 200 k got 22 mpg. So far pleased with the l5p engine. No towing till Nov when we head to Texas.

I don't believe you are getting that mileage pulling a heavy 5er, My 2015 RAM get that mileage non towing.
