That is done for purpose of people not wanting to pay higher fees, and just buying what meets their needs. With Ram raising the SRW GVWR above the magic 11,500 and Ford staying put must mean that Ford believes that figure should not be exceeded and that's why Ford not doing the keep up the Jones mentality with GVWR above 11,500.

That is true. The 3/4 ton class could be eliminated because in reality they are built to 1 ton standards and then derated to create the 3/4s. The difference between the two is often only a leaf spring.

In Ontario anything above 10,000 lbs requires annual inspections also licence fees go up to about double, close to $400.00.

I had a choice and could register my truck lower for a passenger fees but opted for full 9,990 rate.

That is exactly it. For example my 2001 F250 spring codes front and rear were the same as a SRW F350. My rear blocks were different. I changed the blocks out to the F350 blocks. Now the front differential is different unfortunately- Dana 50 vs. Dana 60 but the change in the rating is minimal.

FYI. When buying a truck bigger than a 3/4 ton, go find the commercial/fleet sales dept. at the dealership. Ford, Dodge, Chevy, GMC, doesn't matter. These guys sell these truck everyday. They know the product. The retail guys hardly ever sell this size trucks.

I, personally, am waiting for the 2018. Let them get the first year kinks worked out and then jump. My '16 F150 is by far the most comfortable truck I've ever driven. They're using the cab and interior in the '17 on SD so I'm looking forward to that.

I'm waiting on incentives. My 2016 F250 could be gone soon,,,, or held a while.

You are correct. The GVWR for 2017 Ford Super Duty F350 SRW has been reduced in 2017 to 11,400 from the 11,500 lbs of previous years.

And with the truck weighing about 300 lbs less, payload will still increase slightly.
