Let me start by saying Iíve been a GM guy for over 20 years...

Iím not impressed at all! It looks a lot like the Tundra. They spent millions of dollars to bash Ford on the aluminum body but then switched to an aluminum bed. I donít get it.

Sorry, itís a fail for me.

Chevy had to bash Ford for aluminum to keep market share until they could come with their own.

I see they've gone to Ford style wheel well openings, too (round instead of squared off).

They've just made their new 2018 Traverse look a lot like a Ford Explorer.

I think Chevy's really in a catch-up game these days.

The 2019 Silverado uses a higher-grade alloy in its roll-formed, high-strength-steel bed floor

Aluminum????

At least its a change for the body style now they need to work on the interior. Not so bad I'll be looking for one in 2020 it they have the 3/4 tons out by then. Later RJD

Looks like I can finally consider GM now. The round wheels in a square well was a deal breaker for me also.

That new GM is sharp!

It was rumored they were going to use aluminum on the floor of the bed and alloy on the sides....

I've thought they all looked a little like the Tundra, or the Tundra was copying the American brands to keep up. Actually I've mistaken many Fords thinking they were Tundra or vise-versa.
They didn't mention aluminum directly, "The 2019 Silverado uses a higher-grade alloy in its roll-formed, high-strength-steel bed floor, making its bed more functional at lighter weight"

Talk about bashing, thinking back many years, Ford said the push rod over head rocker engines GM started producing in the early years would never last, ooops.

I've owned Chevys, Ford and GMC's but no Chrysler-Dodge products. Can't say that I have found any great difference in them, just a personal preference of a given year model.

By who? Ford guys?

LOL

I did read that carbon fiber beds were a possibility.

Lots of new 'stuff' in the truck world in last few years. Exciting. Used to be lots of difference in the "Big 3" (which were the Big Two pre-Lee Iococca), then they were all 3 about equal. Now it seems there is technology making differences a bit more apparent. Thus the "Truck Arguments". Ford puts a turbo boost in a mid sized 6 cylinder, and folks go nuts. Chevy makes a diesel in a small truck, and folks go nuts. One makes aluminum to reduce weight (don't try and repair it after a wreck, though!), the other makes heavier beds. Heavy or fuel efficient? Who knows?

But boy, reading stuff on here about truck differences is more fun than underwater football.
