24' Motorhome that will flat tow a F150

I have a friend looking to get a motorhome to use for work and also flat tow a 2018 F150 crewcab 4x4. He is thinking a 24' would be enough. He will be the primary user 95% of the time. He will mostly be dry camping about 3 days at a time. He travels a lot and feels a motorhome hauling his truck would be better than staying in hotels all the time. He is in the Florida/Alabama area. Any suggestions or input would be welcome. He is looking used but mostly looking for advice on what could safely pull the F150.

According to the Ford website, the 2018 F150 can weigh between 4,000 to 5,300lbs depending on how it’s equipped.

I would suggest he look at a Class C on a Ford E350 or E450 platform with the V10 engine. Check the towing capacity of the Sunseeker, or Lexington, or Forester layouts.

The F150 is a pretty hefty toad, but I’m guessing he has to have it for work?

I don't think anything less than a big Kodiak C+ will handle the more like 5500# that truck will really weigh. The back of a class C is usually a long way from the rear axle, that needs a heavy beefed up frame to handle a bunch of weight back there. The good thing with flat towing is you don't have much tongue weight like you would towing a 5500# boat.
To me the no brainer if you have a nice new F150 would be to get a #5500 24' travel trailer instead with more room than any 24' class C and probably 1/4 The price.

There are a couple of sunseekers/Foresters that would fit the bill. These are around 24' and have a tow rating around 7500#...2290s and 2300,2250sle and 2350le, the GTS 2430s(add a one instead of the zero and you'll have the Forester model)

Like Hersbird, I'm curious as to why he wouldn't want to tow a TT with the F150. As mentioned, purchase prices are much lower, but also only one vehicle to insure, register, etc.

My dad spent years working away from home, initially living in a truck camper, but mostly in a 28' FW.

2WD cannot be flat towed without removing the drive shaft. Older 4WD can be towed with transfer case in neutral. Newer ones may or may not work the same way. I assume your friend has looked in to all this.

Yes he has looked into everything. The reason he is looking to tow is he found a loophole with work. company car policy says no towing...but doesn't say it can't be towed. That's why he needs motorhome that can tow his truck.

Why not just get a 24 or 26 foot travel trailer with slide. It doesn't take much longer to seven trailer up compared to motorhome and you get a lot less maintenance. Between my wife and I we have a whole trailer set up in about 15 minutes.

Just a thought he may have to stay fairly recent I believe Sunseekers before 2015 had only a 5000# tow rating

Thor makes the Axis and Vegas motorhomes on the E-450 chassis. Older units are on the E-350. Their shorter one (model 24.1) has a long wheel base without as much overhang as many class C's and all the models have a 8,000# rated towing capacity.
No E-450 hauling a motorhome and towing an F-150 4x4 CC is going to be a screamer on the highway but it will certainly do the job.

I'd be looking at a Forester like this:

https://www.rvwholesalers.com/invent...-Sale/X000264/

It's built on the 450 chassis and will have plenty of power/tow capacity with the Ford V10.

I guess our Sunseeker 2500TS would probably fit the bill ???
Too bad about the no tow policy,,, a little 5th wheel would be much better !!!

Thanks for answering. Broadened my thinking!

A 3010DS can tow 7500 lbs.

I have a hard time believing the company will allow all the brackets, electrical, and braking systems to be installed on the company truck. I don't know many dollies able to carry that much weight, but they will be about another 1000# if they can. It does look like there are a few class Cs out there with enough capacity so at t least that hurdle is manageable.

The truck is his personal truck. Think he's just tired of being in hotels all the time.

I am confused, if it is his personal truck how can the company policy of not towing apply?

Is the pickup truck his or co-owned? If it’s mine, then how can a company dictate the rules? Granted, if the company pays for the gas, towing a trailer will crank his gas receipts up from normal. Making the pickup towable will involve modifications to tow it structurally and electrically.

There are some questions I can't answer and don't have answers to. He asked me a question and I'm just trying to help.
