292BHDS low tongue height
Anyone else having issues while towing with this unit? It seems the tongue is mounted rather low on the 292BHDS. I get a nasty bounce at times going over dips in the road, sometimes so bad that the spring bars will actually hit the road! Same goes for uneven spots like driveways, the spring bars will scrap of the pavement! I have the bars as tight as I can get them. The truck and trailer are perfectly level when all hooked up. Any ideas??

There are two types of couplers on travel trailers, those that mount ot the top of the a-frame and those that mount to the bottom. I am going to assume yours is bottom mount, though a picture would confirm this.
What type of WDH are you using? Some simply hang lower than others. Trunnion bars will sit higher than round bar.
Can you post a couple pictures of your set-up?

Not sure what you mean by "A-frame" but you have the frame of the camper and then the what I would assume is the "A-frame" is mounted to the bottom of the camper frame. I believe your unit in your sig pic is of the same tongue height. I am using a Husky round bar type set up.

here is an example of a top mount coupler:
and here is a bottom mount:
The A-frame is the part of the trailer that comes to a point where the couple is mounted.
If you have a bottom mount - you do NOT want to use a round bar set-up.

It's for sure top mount. Is it me or is the tongue rather low on this unit compared to others? Maybe I just have the hitch ball too low?? Can you post a pic of yours hooked up to your truck? I would imagine your truck must sit higher then mine. Just trying to get this all figured out before next camping trip.

The 320 sits much higher off the ground, but here are some pics of my set-up with old truck. no different with new truck.

Yeah I'd say a 320 does sit quite a bit higher that a 292. At current height my safety chains basically drag on the ground. Is one suppose to adjust the chains or something? They seem really long, same with the e-brake cable.

you can twist the chains to make them shorter. Just grab the hook end and turn it a couple times to shorten the chain. the breakaway cable can be looped or cut for that matter.

A few pictures would help up a lot because there are a few ways to correct this depending on your set up.
-You could raise your hitch bar a hole a two , or flip it around if you need to get more height.
-Is the rear end sagging on the truck? Maybe the rear leaf springs are shot or your tongue weight is too high? Try measuring the front and rear wheel well openings before and after you hook up, this will tell you a lot about how your WD is set up.
- The bounce you experience could be caused by your shocks being worn.
I switched from an 08 F150 to an 09 F250 and the only thing I had to change was the amount of tension on the bars due to higher rated springs on the truck so it didn't sag as much. The only time my chains ever drag is when I am going up an incline from a level surface.
If you posts some pics we may be able to help.

If your chains have dragged on the road and show any wear, they should be replaced or at least replace the links that are damaged with links of the same load rating.

Not so fast...
Round bar Reese DC with the FR inverted lower mount coupler. When we purchased the TT a couple of yrs back I specified the trunnion WDH. Was advised that the trunnion config was on six-week back order (that's half the RV season in this neck of the woods). We opted for the round bars and thus far haven't looked back. No clearance issues in over two yrs and 14K km of travel and the DC setup works as advertised with this config.
