Ahh...Ron.
The last sentence of yours because I like to quibble and I know you can take it.

...We can only measure them by their own merits on paper, which means what? You have a cool dyno graph? Or you can tell your buddies about 4hundredxx horsepower? The reality is that non-pulling-monster 6.0 spanks the Ram 6.4 up the IKE by about a minute and half...with the same rear end and same load. Sure it's the transmission (or some nanny installed by the manufacturer to keep the pretty from coming unglued in the Ram) but which is better? Sitting in your Ram 6.4, holding that dyno sheet and watching in awe as the lowly 6.0 in that chevy is pulling away? Or looking in your review mirror at that guy clutching his dyno sheet?

I'm mostly fun'n with ya and I know, this is where you tell me about the new 8 speed and how it will lay waste to Chevy 6.0 (and I hope it does).

Similar to these guys chewing on the 8.1 vs eco...I've towed with both and I don't care what the paper says...8.1 liter every single day.

Well I have had the newer 6.0 and now the 6.4 and I still can climb the same grades at the same speed with the Ram. Matter of fact less rpm doing it. Later RJD

Whether it is a pulling monster or not, I will leave to you guys to debate. I just need a truck that tows 9000 lbs + gear in the bed + us. The Chevy does that quite well, thank you, The engine is a mature design and is generally acknowledged to be bulletproof. Aside from that, the truck has sit down seats, see-through glass, the radio plays and the air makes cold. What else do you need?

LOL, that Dang Ike test comes back to bite Ram every time, Curses!
Yea, But the Ram bested it in other areas, the ford got some kicks in also!
But, You kinda advocated on my behalf because the Truck does pull admirably, NOT because of the "pulling monster" 6.0, but because the package as a whole works well with the lesser motor! The other gentleman on here who went from the 6.0 to the 6.4 admits pulling the same hills at the same speed with less RPMS, But that dang Ike test, why you go and bring that up.. Play fair!

The site team has removed a post that was clearly against the site guidelines. We also had to remove some others that quoted it. We are seeing if we can restore those sans the quote, if they will still make sense.

I been fairly satisfied with even the old 5.4 as far as powertrain goes, so I am considering all 3 mfr.s trucks equally. I am wondering if anyone out there has experience towing a similar TT with two or all three of the 3/4 ton trucks (recent models) in terms of handling the trailer on the interstate with semis, crosswinds, etc. to see if they are going to be equal in that regard. Thanks,

To address your question - yes, any of the big three are going to handle the camper about the same.
It's really just personal choice.

Just look at the payload number. If your within spec, your good to go. Brand is a matter of personal preference.

I got a question for everyone, if your truck is within the payload rating on the door sticker, are you automatically within the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR)?

Saw this in the Walmart parking lot last night...

Somebody sold him the bill of goods...

Hard to see in this photo, but that truck was squatting so bad...and it had what looked like the Equalizer WDH on it.

3/4 ton advice

My brother has a new Ram 3500 6.4L with .373 rear end. We’ve both had Chevy’s with the 6.0L. Me with Burb 2500 w .410’s and him with a work utility truck with .410 rear end.

Chevy motor is awesome. Ram’s 6.4 L is equally awesome however the transmission needs time towing to dial in the shift points in tow haul. He thinks he may have our dealer change the shift points. If he works it manually it’s a total beast. But letting the truck do it by the computer is not perfect.

I like how it drives a lot. We have a hill here in Ohio coming from Laureville to Old Man’s cave. It’s a very steep grade. Probably 10+ percent and long enough to get a good feel for a trucks capability. We’ve sold trucks because how they pulled that hill. Anyway it’s the 6.4 busts up that hill very well.

Chevy had that 6.0l dialed in, hate to see it go. But Ram’s are awesome. The tranny will get worked out. The Burb 2500 was one of the best vehicles I ever owned, Ram is right there with it.

Drove a new Ford with the 6.2l Tuesday. Freakin nice.

We are spoiled.

I agree about the Ram 6.4 and yep traded my 2015 6.0 Chevy in on my New Ram. I went from 4:10 gear to a 3:73 in the Ram and it preforms just as good as the Chevy if not better and the mileage is also better. Later RJD

Yes his mileage is respectable. Not sure what that means. All these gas motors from the big three are rugged and I think stout is the word. Strong pullers with great cooling. I wouldn’t be afraid to pull 16000lbs with one.
