I have a 02 duramax. So far all I have done is aftermarket exhaust. I can feel the little extra power. Next mod will either be a tuner or airbags

I have a new '14 Ram 2500 Crew Cab 4X4, (1300 miles so far). I don't think it's legal to modify them after a certain year. Mine will stay completely stock unless I can find a way to legally make it quieter... I've only towed with it once and it's a beast compared to my old gasser. I'm not sure why I would change anything, other than to try to get better mileage.

I had a 2009 F250 with the 6.4 PSD. It was crew cab, long bed, 4wd lariat package. It was stock. Got it after not having enough SUV for my previous tt (7000 lbs loaded). It handled the trailer beautifully. Power to spare. Loved driving it and towing with it. It was very light on payload. It only 1500 lbs of payload. This was confirmed at the cat scale. It also had a lot of mechanical problems and was frequently in the shop. An egr delete might have helped with some of those issues. I got tired of the issues and also wanted a fiver so we traded the F250 for our 2014 silverado 3500 duramax. We now have a much more capable and reliable truck. I do still find myself missing the ford a bit but I do love my new truck and am very happy with how my duramax handles my 12000 lb fiver.

Thumbs up

Stock? Some of it is stock! 2007 F350 only has 36000 miles (yes that is thousand) Found this great truck in late 08 when diesel went above $4/gallon. Knew the 6.0 historically had issues, so I saved up some money and started by changing out the exhaust! 4" MBRP turbo back/cat delete kit. Sounds awesome and lets it breath.
I then saved up even more and found an ex ford diesel mechanic who replaced the head studs with ARPs. And deleted the EGR. I got a SCT tuner and purchased a few tunes from some reputable guys and my truck pulls like a scalded mule! The tow tune with turbo break is awesome when pulling my 15K+ fiver. Just hope my state don't start checking for all the emissions!
It is amazing what you can do to a diesel to get better mileage and power!

I would love to have a newer truck but just can't justify the $$$ to replace my '01 7.3l Powerstoke yet as I only have 80K miles on it. So..., I added a DP tuner, Wicked Wheel 2, Ford AIS intake, 4" exhaust, 6.0 trans cooler with Valvoline Maxlife synthetic fluid, and various other minor things. It now gets better fuel mileage than it ever did and I have more power than I can use. My only complaint is that I have to really watch the exhaust temps as they climb fast when towing going up a steep grade. Nothing I can't keep control of by backing off a bit or bumping it out of overdrive, but it would be nice to just set the cruise and not have to watch it when heading up a mountain pass.
