The point ~~ it took 2 of us to get the F350 gate off as it is a tad heave for one. The 5er gate is extremely light. I could not find the weight of the F350 gate with camera and step but it is at least 5X the weight of the 5er gate. Makes life easier too.
No way would I give up my camera and old man step for a 5th wheel tailgate

I wish I had the old man step. I almost need a ladder to get into my Ram.

Easy peasy. This is better......contacts the ground and is more stable.

You still have the 'beeper' when backing and can install a camera for $40 or ready made for $90. I'm 69 and do not miss the step. I keep a boat hook in the bed and in the 5er which keeps me from having any need to get in the bed or the pass thru storage.

You must be tall, or your truck must be short. Or both. I can't reach the pin to latch or unlatch the hitch without a step stool.

Lots of changes the dealer or owner can make. Tailgate change, airbags, side steps, grill guard, big or heavier wheel upgrade, goose hitch plus Andersen OR B&W companion 5er hitch, etc. Some add, some takeaway. All those happen after the sticker was created. The 2500 GVWR is 10000#. After all the mods, drive over to CAT scale, fill up with fuel and get a weigh ticket. 10000 minus the the Trucks total weight is your 'Revised' sticker payload.

I keep the boat hook to reach things EXCEPT the lock on my hitch. Pulling the step out or crawling under the 5er is crazy compared to the folding step stool that stays in the truck. The folder takes very little space, is cheap, and makes reaching the lock easy. A 2016 F350 4X4 is not short. Still wondering how you use the step with the 5er nose over the bed.....

I may be fat, but I make up for it by being really short.

I did it for 4 years with a 2012 Tundra Crew max with no issues. Towed it thousands of miles. I have a Reese Revolution on my 5W and put E-rated ties, rear sway bar and Timbrins. I did recently move up to a diesel, I do plan on moving up to a bigger 5W soon. What I am looking at the Tundra could not handle. If Toyota ever makes a HD Diesel, I will be back. Those trucks are bullet proof.

I'm a big fan of this camera. Easy to install and doesn't block any part of the plate like cheaper units.

does this work with the factory screen or require another screen? Having the 7 inch screen on my dash with the lines that move with the steering wheel is pretty awesome though. Anything else would be a down grade. Good option for someone installing one that doesn't have a factory camera though.

I'm sure that varies vehicle to vehicle, depends on what kind of video input your truck's headunit has. This camera uses a standard RCA plug for video and gets power from the vehicle's backup lights. You might need an electronic specialist to patch it into some factory systems.
