5th wheel riding 1-2 in nose high?

We are beyond green to 5th wheel world. We have a new Columbus 377 on order. Would it be a problem with the 5er riding an inch or 2 nose high to get bed rail clearance if need be? Would that put too much weight on the axels? We are trying to get ideas and information before we pick up the rig.

We are in for much laughter learning how to back this beast up for sure
Thanks as always and more questions for all yalls

A couple inches in 40' won't bother much I think. I don't know about your fiber, but mine has torsion suspension and will sorta, even out the slight angle from level. Looking at your last couple concerns, I'd say wait to get hooked up and you may be surprised how well it all levels out and should tow beautifully. Make sure to post pictures so we can advise(and really so we can help you enjoy your new setup!). Happy Campin!!

Be aware of what it might do to the backend of your camper. Mine is running nose high and I'm dragging pretty constantly. I'm actually going to try and move my hitch down a bit and might even have to have my pin box adjusted.

My RV was running over 4" nose high when I hooked it to my new to me Ram. A 2-5/8" lift kit from Dexter leveled it out nicely. An easy fix for torsion axels. Nose high with torsion axels puts allot of stress on the back axel and tires. If a rig has springs with equalizers not so much.

Wore out rear tires on my fiver on trip to Calif and back from Mich. Was running 2 inches high due to oversized tires on truck. Went from C to D rated on rear only (on trailer). So far so good over about 5000 miles.

Welcome from upstate NY. Until you get the new rig home and hooked up you really can't calculate where the ride height is going to be, and it will change with loading. 5'ers tow best when they're level and there's tweeks to getting them there. Hope it comes in soon, keep us posted. God Bless

1-2" is not bad better to have bed clearance, backing is just a little different IMO

Level is good. Ride characteristics can change dramatically with nose up, or nose down. You might be surprised when you put the weight on the hitch where the trailer sits in relation to the truck. Remember there are many fairly easy remedies to either situation. Air bags for the truck, axle lift kits for the trailer, etc. Most are not terribly expensive if you can put them on yourself. If not a mechanic can usually deal with them at a reasonable expense. Ride is everything, and a level rig is a must, so be prepared to do what it takes to make it right.

Nose High

Our 5er runs about 1" high, but I monitor the tire temp and there is no difference in temp. between the the tires. It pulls great ! So far tire wear is not a issue.

My toy hauling 40 foot 5er sits about 3 inches nose high and the manufacture says that I can not put in any type of "lift kit" to help level it out. This also affects my turning radius to only the width of the truck bed. Anything past that, the pin box gets into the side walls of the bed. Not sure what to do???????

Nose High

Have you looked into lowering your truck- Rear lowering shackles ?

Sidewinder pin box would take care of that.

I don't know if that would void my warranty but lowering the truck bed height would be a good idea.
The new rig has Dexter Ez flex axels.
Thanks

ksmith954, my truck has a 4x4 suspension in it, so lowering the rear just would not look correct, but thanks for the feed back.
I should probably also mention that I currently use a gooseneck adapter on my kingpin instead of a regular reciever. I use a B&W ball system. I have considered switching over to their Companion Receiver set up, but not sure if that would help or not. I am going to start hauling my Harley this year, and I am afraid of what another 1000 pounds in the rear is going to do to that nose up attitude, other than increase it even more. Any and all ideas are welcome. Thanks.

Ditto on about an inch high. I only see maybe 1lb difference in air pressures hot from front and rear tires. I check them cold and then the first stop I recheck hot and adjust if needed.

I have a 2017 2500 Power Wagon. Thought all 2500's were the same but this is higher. Have a Rockwood 8244BS on order so will not know how level(if at all) it will ride untill we get the camper. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have a friend with a fairly standard Ram 2500 (2015 maybe? It has coil springs in the back) that sits real high. I can't imagine anything higher.
