5th Wheel "Slider plate"
Has anyone seen these before? I asked on the forum last year, but didn't have a picture.
I have a 10" lube plate and it seems to work great... until I unhitch. Each and every time, it falls down. I have asked the dealer, they gave me a new one and it holds up for the first tow only, then falls down upon unhitching. It's almost like it expands, because I can't re-install it until I am ready to leave again, causing me to store it somewhere and make sure I don't misplace it. Even worse when I have to crawl up in the pickup to retrieve it.
I found this at "theduallydepot.com" in Elkheart Indiana. They sell them installed for 55 bucks. I will have to get someone in my town to install it for me. He said the round black holes are actually disks that get mig welded to the head of the hitch. He said it's just a small tack right in the middle. Plate was roughly 35.00 plus shipping. More expensive then the 10" lube plate but if it works as well as they say they do, it's well worth my time and not getting dirty chasing after and touching the plate.
I have a Reese 16K hitch but it is identical to the design of the Husky. At least I'm taking a chance for 35.00 that it will fit. I will of course dry fit it first before heading to my hitch installer. They have never heard of them before and I can't get the brand name from anyone. All they do is tell me it's a "5th wheel slide plate" I will post a pic of it installed after it comes and assuming it fits right and gets installed.

No need for anything fancy.
Take the anti-friction disk you have, clean the bottom of the pin box and one side of your disk, then glob a bunch of adhesive to the clean side of the disk, stick it to the pin box, and lower it onto your hitch. Leave for a day, and you won`t have to worry about it falling off again!

Sounds like he has tried that and it falls off after the first use...

How the heck did i miss that ?
Mine has yet to fall off.
Tapped it up with a block of wood and a hammer.
Maybe they carry an inferior product who knows?
To each his own.

I did!
But the install instructions said no tools required !
Your supposed to stick it on the pin as far as you can then slide camper up on plate, hitch high and retract stabilizers and use plate to push it on.....

I have the exact one that Turbo has with no problems noted. It is my second one and I got it after the first one got chewed up at the dealers when they were moving our FW and the forklift operator misjudged the distance and tore it up.
The first never came off even after many hookups and unhookings. It would drop down somewhat but I just hit it back up and good to go.

Had one like yours originally and when they activated the Sidewinder, I had to literally pry it off and it slid on very easily. Took at least 5 minutes to remove. Gave it to a fellow.

Actually, I made my own out of puckboard, as it is a lot thinner than the disks you buy at the RV store. So, no, I didn`t have the notches, which is probably why it eventually got a bit loose.
Makes no difference though as far as the OP`s question goes, as he can still glue his existing disk to his pinbox, and save some money.

Just an FYI, when I picked up my 8280ws last summer, they sold me a white plastic disk. I had to notch it out to fit around the wedges on my sidewinder. I could never get it hooked up to the truck. I called Sidewinder and the technician told me not to use the disk. They do not reccomend it for that very reason.

No need for it as the only time anything moves on it is when you are hooking up. I usually lift the trailer to the point there is little, if any, contact with the pin box when unhooking.

To the OP, my Dad has one of these, and it works great for him. I have the standard disc on mine, and it has been on there for oh...coming up on 3 years now. Probably time to replace it, but it still works great. I'm not sure why yours falls off, that's odd. Anyway, the plate you pictures is a much more permanent solution, and as I said, my Dad has not had any problem with his.

The whole idea of using the disk is so one doesn't have to put any messy grease/lube on it.
