5th wheel with ecoboost

Who is towing a fiver with a ecoboost? How does it handle? Has anyone gone from a 3/4 ton to the ecoboost? Are they as good as they say?

The most important aspect of your analysis and choice will be about payload capacity of the truck versus the pin weight of a 5th wheel. The Ecoboost has the power but you may want to consider the HD payload package and be extremely careful with the pin weight of any potential 5'er. Remember most manufacturer weights are "dry" weights; no options, no fluids, no camping gear/food/clothing etc.

My friend has an Ecoboost with max tow, and he pulls a 8600 lb GVWR fifth.
He also pulled my fifth home after my truck had an issue, and it weighs about 9000 pounds loaded for travel.
I was with him when he pulled mine home, and it handled it no problem. Lots of power, and the weight in the box was no issue whatsoever. My pin weight is probably in the 1800 pound range.
I pull with an older 3/4 ton diesel, and to be honest, I didn't see much difference in power or the ability to handle the weight.

I pull a 2013 rockwood 8289 with my 2013 EcoBoost. I did get the max tow package which replaced the 7700 series Ford use to make. It pulls with no issue in the hills. And handles and brakes fine.

As already mentioned, payload will be the limiter. The ecoboost F150 payload can vary by 1000+ lbs depending on how it's optioned.
