6.0 chevy

What are my option for adds for additional hp? Pulling 13k 5th wheel, only travel 1000 miles a yr with the trailer, that why I didn't go diesel.

what gears does your truck have? There are some good tuners out there for the 6.0

that's a big plus right there. I would look into a tuner. That will give you most bang for the buck. Exhaust will give you a few horsepower, but not anything you will really notice. Maybe in conjunction with a tuner it might make a difference. I traded my 6.0 truck for a diesel last summer. I only tow maybe 2000 miles a year, but don't regret it at all. The power difference it unbelievable. The torque is exactly double, and it feels like it. Fuel economy much better too.

the 6.0 can be tuned, but premium fuel will be the requirement for now on, getting regeared above 4.10 could be a option, but milage would be affected everywhere. if only 1k miles towing just deal with the crappy mileage and no power towing in any hills. Every chevy HD with the 6.0 is standard with the 4.10 you can get the 3.73 in the LD version but that is even worse towing, not sure it even comes in the LD version anymore. Is it a 1500 or 2500??

I had a 2500HD with 3.73 gears. It was an 09

I am a member of Denali Trucks and most everyone on that site recommends Advanced Products 2/12/2005 and their custom tunes...I will be going that route if I experience any issues with my power. So far my SUV has not shown any lack of power. Good luck....

If you only travel 1K miles/yr camping...save your money on the truck upgrades and live with it.
Dollar for dollar, really can't squeeze enough additional hp from a gas engine to justify the cost and feel a difference when towing that amount of weight.

I agree with this or just save the money and throw a bit more cash at it and go to the diesel but dumping money into the 6.0 is not the way to go.

There are lots of guys doing low boost turbo setups on the 5.3 and 6.0 Chevrolet LS based motors these days. That would definitely get the power up and allow you to tailor it to what you need through the desired boost/power level.
5Psi boost on the 6.0 trucks get you around another +100hp at the wheels and doesn't sacrifice light load fuel mileage.
