So......A few drinks after the kids went to bed this week had me on another forum looking at stuff on the Ram 6.4. Long story short, I ended up purchasing a new muffler for the truck that eliminates the restrictive valve (litterally there is a valve that closes in the muffler at part throttle) and is a bolt in solution to gain a little more throaty sound and some are reporting a 1-2 mpg increase empty. I'll keep you posted for those that are intrested.

Here are some details for those who are intrested.....oh and by the way the thread title should read "6.4 Hemi 20K miles"

I wasn't sure what it was supposed to be, but I knew 2K was wrong ... had to be well over 4K

Count me as another happy customer. We love this truck.

We traded in a 1500 Silverado (which we really liked) on a 2500 RAM with the 6.4L HEMI.

This has been a great truck. We just got back from the Ozarks and it tows our 7,500 pound trailer with no problem. Plenty of power for everything we do with it.

We do a lot of 3-5 night trips here in Indiana, and it's great to be able to load up the bed with a rick of firewood and not worry about towing the trailer on top of it:

On the payload thing, here it is with 3,000 pounds of stone in the bed...

Decisions decisions.
Dave Smith in Kellog, ID would have the same truck with the 6.4 Hemi for under $45k maybe less. Basically take $12-15k off msrp at that price level on a 2500 Dodge gas 4x4. Diesels are good priced there as well, but Dodge is stingier with the rebates. Especially the 1500 ecodiesel, everybody is buying that with no rebates at all. Again, at least Dave Smith will cut their profit on it where the local guys don't get near the allowance Smith does so they hold tighter on their prices.

I try going to Dave Smith before I bought my 2016 2500 6.4L but I couldn't get no love there, the lady that was working with me wouldn't return my call. I call her about five times but she wouldn't answer my voice mail call.

So I got in touch with Dennis Dillion in Caldwell ID, for what I understand that their prices in better than Dave Smith so I got a great deal there.

For what it's worth....paid less than 40k for my 15 just as the dealer was getting the 2016 models. Local dealer. Big horn blackout package.

Also....installed the magnaflow muffler in the truck last night and this am. What is a simple job turned into a battle with The provided crap clamps. Ended up going up to napa for 3.5" stainless band clamps. No leaks. Sounds like 6.4L should all the way up to part throttle. Not loud but you know there are some horses under the hood. The factory muffler has a valve (see photo) that diverts gasses through the chamber to keep the engine quiet up to part throttle. At full throttle the valve opens. Both factory and aftermarket then sound identical. Ram forums reporting 1-2 mpg increase by opening up the exhaust. Looks promising.Click image for larger version

I've been looking to give mine some "voice", however my wife is concerned about the "low drone" you hear in the cab going down the freeway after adding after market exhaust. How's the noise level in the cab? She likes the stock because you can hear everyone talking while driving. I've been hesitant to pull the trigger because of her concerns.

Is there any drone or resonance with that muffler? Any MPG reports?

I had a dual corsa catback on my 1500 Hemi. Loved that exhaust, stock quiet cruising on the highway, but loud and mean when floored and absolutely no drone. Could faintly hear the MDS kicking in at slow speeds, but not bad at all.

Can you post sound clips?
