600 or 800 lb bars

I am towing a Rockwood Roo 17 that is 3800 lbs with a 400 + tongue weight. It will be towed with my 2011 Nissan Titan....

So I am getting the E2 2 point and want to decide if I should get the 600 or 800 lb bars

We tow fully loaded in the camper and have four plus a dog in the crew cab...... We also usually put quite a bit in the bed of the truck...

Thoughts?

If that is a wet (loaded) trailer weight, the 600 pound bars should be enough. If it is a dry trailer weight, you might want to consider the 800 pound bars. The weight in your truck really shouldn't be a factor. You can't make up for payload by getting bigger bars. I can tell you that bigger is not always better with bars; it can get too stiff. Best to match the bars as best you can to your tongue weight IMO. Good luck. Happy camping.

I spoke with the guys from E2 and they informed me that one should consider what you put in the back of your truck, especially behind the rear axle. At 400+ lbs of tongue weight then putting my 450 lbs motorcycle in the back of the truck, he suggested the 800 lbs bars. This is also having four passengers and a dog and race fuel, generator, and etc...

Sounds like you are getting ready to push the limits of the truck. Tongue weight, plus motorcycle, generator, fuel, etc. That is over 1,000 pounds, and 4 people is another 600 or more. With that load, I agree with the 800 pound bars, but you will never correct an overloaded problem with stiffer bars, if you are in fact overloaded. I'll let you do the math, if you so wish.

Is this your last trailer?

Another thing to consider is whether you will always own your current trailer or possibly buy something heavier. In my case (four trailers in seven years - varying from 4800 to 7300 lbs), getting the upper range bars for the first trailer meant I only had to upgrade once.

I appreciate your thoughts on that....

I did the math and it is good.... heavy, but within specs....

Sorry I had more to say, but called to a meeting.

The Titan that I have with their version of the Big Tow package has a Payload capacity of 2153 lbs, which for a 1/2 ton truck is impressive.
