9th blowout 07 wildcat 32QBBS
We bought our Wildcat new in 07. The back axel was replaced the year after wegot it due to a factory issue causing wear on the inner tire. Since then we've had 8 blowouts on the rear tire passenger tire. Anyone else have this issue? Forest River won't return our calls. We didn't keep a record as who'd have thought it would happen 8 times? We upgraded to load range E tire with same result! Any suggestions? We love our camper, but this is ridiculous!

I'd recommend you bring it to a trailer repair shop and have them realign it. They do this by making sure they are mounted square to the 5th wheel pin, and then they tweak the axle tubes at the wheel that needs to be aligned.

If it was not aligned properly wouldn't there be wear on the tire?

I did find when I looked under the camper the springs above that tire were crooked and u bolts weren't tight. I straightened springs, tightened u bolts, & hub was loose also. Wonder if this will make a difference?

If it isn't an alignment issue than it's either deffective tire or you're not checking tire pressure. Is it possible you hav a faulty gauge? Or you're over pressurizing the tires? Tires don't just blow out for no reason.

if you keep blowing the tire on the same axle, something is wrong at that axle. What, I can't say, could be dragging brake causing excessive heat, bad rim that causes air loss, something on the frame hitting the tire or even that axle is extremely overloaded. Loose hardware is another cause.

On our fifth there was a floor support (those little triangle pieces welded to the main frame) that was mounted right above one of the tires. I beat it to death with a sledge hammer to get it away from the tire, otherwise I am sure it would have cut the tire.
What they were thinking to mount that support there is beyond me.
As for your situation, considering it is always the same tire, it is obvious something is specific to that wheel.
You mentioned that you tightened up a bunch of stuff. Did you just do that now? Or have you still had issues since doing that?

also check the sprig center bolt it could be wore or even broke if the u bolts were not tight. i would think that after 8 blow outs some one fixing the tires would have given you their thoughts on what is causing it.

Have you checked weights? That one wheel may be carrying more weight than the other 3 wheels. Before I got to 8 blow outs, I would have gotten a tire pressure monitoring system so I could see what was happening with that one tire. Usually tires blow due to low pressure. A TPMS would alert you to the problem before it blew.
If you find the cause, please let us know what it was.
Gool luck!

You made a significant change by tightening those suspension and hub bits. I would not do anything else unless you see the problem again. If you take it somewhere, they might charge you money to tweet things that may not be necessary. Just keep monitoring the wheel temperature. Get an IR temperature gun. Cheap at Harbor Freight.
