A big big rig

Saw this picture on Facebook from Big Meadows campground in Townsend TN. Their caption said there was a motor cycle on the truck too and the trailer is 41 feet long. Glad we don't have to park it! I hope the picture loads correctly here. If not check pout their Facebook page.

Talk about having his cake and eat it too! I don't think he needs to be worried about not being able to pull it though!

Too bad it's a Volvo and not a a Western Star or a Peterbilt. You can actually pick up a used road tractor pretty cheap today (a lot cheaper than a new pickup truck) for a tow vehicle and they will pull any RV made, no issue.

One problem though, most of them are 10, 13 or 18 speed transmissions and you's have to learn to do things like float gears and work on air brakes....

These are getting more and more popular with the bigger fivers. You can get an auto in these, and yes, a used one is cheaper if not the same as a new 1 ton pickup these days. Though the volvos are more popular for these conversions because of price and there are more auto volvos then K-dub, Peterbilt, etc.

No weight police required for these. lol

We are looking at buying one instead of a one ton dually diesel....DH has driven big rigs for years so he feels this is a better option in many ways

Our next camper will definitely need a big puller so this makes sense

A good used tractor rig should outlast us and he can do his own maintenance and repairs as well

Even with the GM employee discount, the price of new pickups is just crazy off the charts 💰💰

The issue with a used automatic is the used ones will have the auto shift which is real jerky, like a centrifugal clutch arrangement and they tend to eat clutches. Better off with a 10 speed (not a super 10) but a straight 10 or a 13 speed and a single drive (though hard to find). Not sure how states recognize them but you will need an air brake endorsement on your license no matter what.

No matter how big a rig is, someone will step and and see something wrong with it. Jealousy?

Seen that rig or something very similar to it on the Interstate in UT once, heading west on I70 near the CO border.
