I just saw this thread and I thought I would add my comment for additional information. I also have an ACME tow dolly for about 3 years now. I bought the Electric Brake model as I wanted to have an option to be able to manually apply brakes, if needed. I installed an emergency break away kit that I purchased from Etrailer. I also run a set of magnetic brake/turn lights on my 2012 4door VW GTI. I have used it on a trip to Vancouver BC from Las Vegas and back. Few trips to Los Angeles area. So far so good. I use a military style roll up foam that I purchased from an army surplus store. Putting on the safety chain is not bad and only take couple of minutes on ach side.

Mine has surge brake and I think it works well in the mountains going downhill.
I have little confidence in the pin that secures the ball latch. It seems to easily come out so I slap some duck tape on it to hold it in just in case. It seems the spring on the detent ball is not very strong.

I wanted something a bit more tamper proof than the supplied pin. I have been using a Deadbolt model RC4 lock. The RC4 fits the surge brake coupler perfectly. I ordered it from etrailer along with a keyed alike RH3 Hitch lock. I also ordered a cable lock model CAB keyed alike as well to have handy.
Good quality, reasonable price and one key.

Acme tow dolly lights
To camperpapa
The extra lights i added for my car are a set of trailer lights and wires I bought on Amazon. They are full functional. Lights,Signals and brakes all LEDs
my motorhome has the round six or seven terminal plug so I bought a plug and two short flat 4 terminal ends.wired both into the round plug using Ground, running lights, and each signal wires. The tow dolly plugs into one flat connector and my extra set plugs into the other.Works Great

We used a Stehl, but this is what I used rather than chains through the lower control arm.

Thanks for the feedback but have some questions about the "connection(s)" … can you please explain ( for a senior citizen with slowing understanding - LOL ) how you connected the "new" plug and the 2x flat terminal ends into a functioning circuit ? I am having a problem envisioning the setup but it sounds like a really good arrangement.

Is there any issue with taking delivery of one of these 400 lb. dollies at a residence? I do not have a loading dock or a fork truck at home.

The truck dropped it in my driveway. I uncrated it and rolled it into the garage. The only assembly was to put the fenders and lights on it.

No problems with delivery.Acme took care of everything.Whoever they use to deliver the dolly has a lift gate. I didn't even need to be home. It comes in a sort of crate, you have to put the fenders on.but very easy. The dolly here in New York does not even need to be registered, no license plate, or inspected.

The issue we had was it got loaded standing up and would not fit out the truck's door that way. The truck driver broke a rule and let me help. It still took us 45 minutes to finagle it past everything and out the door on to his lift gate.
It came out of the box the way their video shows and then it took me a few hours to disassemble the box.
The only caution is they recently sent an email to customers asking for GoFundMe donations. They do provide manuals for the hitch, wheels, etc and they are available directly if needed.

Same here with Open Road. They dropped it in front of my driveway. Someone need to be home to sign for the delivery. Opened the crate and rolled the fully assembled dolly into my garage. Installed the fenders and that is it. To save on shipping cost, I ordered one full set of spare tire, extra tire and extra wheel straps.

Same here very easy delivery. Deconstructing the crate took longer than assembly of the dolly. The wood made a few nice campfires.
I actually have mine up for sale in the classified section as I have moved to a flat tow setup with a new vehicle.

Just purchased a 2013 Forest River, and plan on getting an EZE Tow Dolly to tow with. None of our current vehicles can be flat towed. I have a 2018 Honda Accord with a push button ignition. If your accord is push to start how do you unlock the steering column to pull on the EZE Tow Dolly?

Have you tried leaving the key in the iginition? Some cars don't actually lock the steering wheel until the key is removed. But I would try turning the steering wheel with the key in the ignition to be sure.
We're pretty happy with our ACME EZETow and have about 15k miles on it. Just put another 800 last week.

I'm not aware of any pushbutton start car that locks the column. The feds gave two choices for an immoblilizer, physical or electronic. Are you certain yours locks? Almost no foreign cars lock. My Hyundai with pushbutton start did not lock.
Too bad you're not closer to NE Ohio. I'm selling my 2019 EZE Tow Dolly because my Sonata just went to my kid and I bought a flat tow-capable car.
