Advice. New to us 2015 shamrock 183 2013 F150

So my family has just bought a used 2015 Shamrock 183 and we are towing it with a 2013 F150 Super crew 4x4 with the ecoboost. It has the built in brake controller.

Previously we towed a 2008 26 foot outback with rear slide using our 2009 Dodge Ram Crew cab 4x4 hemi with an equalizer hitch And then went to a 27 foot cougar xlite 5th wheel with the same dodge.

My issue is that the 183 is so lite. I have researched weight distributing hitches and it seems that all are to heavy (bars) except the reese mini that has 500 pound bars.

I am not used to towing a trailer without weight distribution but have been told that it does not need it as the tounge weight is so low.

Would it be smart to at least install a good anti-sway device? If so what should I use.

Thankyou!

Oh 183 tongue wait loaded is 420 lbs
and trailer weight max load is 4820 lbs

And the F150 equipped max tow is 11,200 lbs

for one thing, you mis-quoted the tongue weight. 420lbs. is the "DRY" tongue weight, not LOADED.

add battery weight, 40lbs. propane gas weight, cargo and water, it'll easily be close or over 500lbs.

read your truck's owners manual. the Towing section usually has a hitch/trailer weight where it's recommended to use a WDH.

what's the driver's door sticker say your payload capacity is?

well, it may have the HD Towing package but it doesn't have the Max Payload package.

have you checked the manual's Towing section?

at minimum, you need an antisway bar.

I tow my 2015 183 Shamrock with a 10,000# WDH from Harbor Freight. You need to add a 2 5/16 ball, sold separately but you can usually get the hitch for $199, or less with a coupon. The HF hitch works great for me... I have it on the 3rd chain link. No sway at all when towning
