What he said. I just switched back to a diesel pulling a similar in weight 5th wheel. You'll be fine on flats but longer hilly trips are uncomfortable driving with the gas. I was in a 2012 F250 6.2l.

Could be. Mine is a 2007 GMC, so between then and now, GMC and Dodge, wouldn't bet either way. I would go to a parts web site, and see if the driveline part numbers match. Easy enough check. It's not that I distrust folks, but once had a Ford dealership owner, head mechanic and factory rep all, all standing shoulder to shoulder, look me in the eye and flat out LIED. Wouldn't have believed that would happen, but mechanic friend of mine, and I, pulled the parts to check, and sure nuff!! Since then, trust but verify.

Just sticking my nose in here to follow the thread. I am looking at upgrading to wither the 2500 or 3500 also.

Looking at the Ram website, in addition to the available Aisin tranny for the Cummins, there are 2 in-house 6 sp auto trannies: 66RFE for gassers; 68RFE for diesel. Not sure what the internal differences are.

The 68RFE is built specifically to handle the torque of the Cummins. The first digit of the model# is number of gears and second digit denotes strength with 8 being the highest.

another question
I have owned a ford 01 250 v-10, I know it would pull this camper with no problem, power to spare, the 6.4 actually has has more Horse power (40 more) and more torque (20 more FT. Lbs.) does this mean it will pull as good as the v-10, I pulled about 12k lb of 5th wheel to beach with my v10 in overdrive and truck never shifted up and down

heres the statistics on the weight, and no offense rubbernail but you must pack everything and the kitchen sink in yours . my camper says on the tag in the door equipped from the factory 11500 pds, took camper to cat scale today it is loaded ready to go camping tomorrow, all food, chairs, clothes, dog, bicycles, grills, only thing I was missing was wife (130pds) don't tell her I said that . entire rig, truck and trailer 21,480pds, then I unhooked 5th wheel and run truck back threw 8820pds, putting camper weight loaded at 12,660pds, lp tanks are full, water tanks are not, again I pull no water in my camper ever. truck im looking at ram 6.4 4:10gears rated for 15600, do yall think it will pull it comfortably

If you haven't already, look on youtube. There are many video reviews of people towing heavy trailers with the 6.4 Hemi. As far as a 130# woman goes, many ladies would be pleased to see that on a scale!

Good to see somebody besides me posting weights. I would note that the manufacturer's label includes full water and propane tanks, or states that it does not, and gives the weights. Still, you obviously do better than me on spouse control. Generally, if we can fit it in, she puts it in.

So what is was the pin weight? A 350/3500 weighing of 8820 that leave 2680 cargo capacity to handle the pin weight so you will close but should be good. The truck weight seems high... You did say you have 350/3500 and not a 250/2500 if you have 3/4 ton that weights 8820 you probably will be way over your Cargo Capacity.

weight
I have a 2010 dodge 3500 dually cummins with a cm flatbed right now, the bed probably makes it weigh that much, the weight difference on the back axle of the truck today was 2600 pds, so I guess that's the pin weight, the new 6.4 ram 2500 im thinking of buying has about a 3500 pd payload capacity.
