Just got back from a trip from Michigan to Maine pulling a 6500 rock wood Tt with a chevy 3500 1 ton express passenger van with the 6.0 And 12 speed transmission. I just used d and trailer function did not mess with the manual shift feature. Got around 10.6 mile out and only around 9 back. Not sure if we ate too many lobsters or what. Ran the air more on the way home since the heat had come with all the rain.
My question is does anyone have one of those air deflectors on a van if they tow with a van, we have to use a van since we have six in the family and the crew cab just is not a fun route. Would a air deflector on a van improve towing mpg and where in the world would you buy one
Good question to put out there. I was wondering something like that myself. I'm putting a cap (cab high topper) on the back of my truck and was wondering if a deflected like the put of semi tractors would help with the wind drag
From what I've read, they do help but it's so negligible that it's not worth the cost. But, that's just conjecture from what I've read on forums and whatnot.

Made one years ago out of the top 28" of a deflector from a semi and mounted it on the back of a cab high topper. Only benefit we noticed was once we got it at the right angle, all it did was keep the bugs off the trailer. Never noticed any difference in mileage, but really wasn't worried about mileage as gas was around $1.00/gal.
