Air lift air bags

This might be on here some where but searching the part number I couldn't find it. I am looking to see if anyone has use a Air Lift 1000HD kit. The 1000 kit has 1000# of capacity and the HD one has 2100# of capacity. I would rather go with the larger one just to be safe than sorry. Off of Amazon the 1000 is only 90 bucks and the HD is 140 bucks, I thought not to bad and it looks like a decent install. I am towing a hybrid camper with a max weight of 6500#. I have an equalizer hitch and still get sag so I was looking to just take some of the sag out not increase the capacity of the truck because I am still way under the capacity it can handle. What I have works well but it can be improved. I know there is much more expensive systems out there. Has anyone used the HD kit and how does it work?

I hate to ask this question but, do you have your WDH set up correctly? I have only owned one bumper pull trailer, a 32 ft. When the ball was set at the right height and the bars were set correctly, the truck and trailer both set level. If I remember the top of the rear wheel well was to be within 1 inch of normal, and the front within 1/2 inch, I think. It's been several years and my memory isn't what it once was.

I'm sure someone will come along with better info than I have. Most of my experience has been with 5th wheels. Good luck!!!

I installed a 1000, can't tell it changed things much. As indicated above be sure your hitch is properly adjusted.

I installed the Airlift 2000 on my truck. I pump it up to 30 psi and it makes the truck more stable and greatly reduces porpoising.

Either your hitch isn’t adjusted correctly or you have the wrong hitch.

There is a video that shows the differences between airbags and a wdh on the same truck and trailer. Wdh is a big difference.

How about air lift bags for the trailer to assist the springs. 36 foot long 5th wheel would be nice to have on.

To begin with, the coil springs on the RAM are not your best friend when towing. That aside, it appears the TT is pretty level, but the TV rear is sagging. I would attribute that to the height of the ball on the TV being higher than the height of the TT hitch. Lowering the height of the ball on the TV could be the answer. From there, air bags would help stability and level a bit. Air bags will not add to the truck's weight carrying capacity.

My new truck has the air ride suspension and automatically adjust the height to level with WDH. Love it. Later RJD

I put the Air Lift 5000 Ultra on my Silverado, I know it's overkill but I did it for a number of reasons. The air bags are better quality, I don't have to have air in them, so I don't get the rough ride when I'm not pulling a trailer. They are lifetime guarantee, the fittings & lines are stainless steel not plastic or rubber For another $100.00 I installed the compressor to air them up with an in cab gauge for dumping the air. It's the best investment I've made for pulling trailers of all types & pulling my 5th wheel I only run about 25 pounds of air in them, just my 2 cents worth.

I installed the 1000's. Didn't see much improvement with the sag. I also have the equalizer hitch. I bought the whole set up used. I took it to an authorized equalizer dealer and had them adjust it. I ended up having to change the shank. The sag is gone. I still run 39psi in the bags though. We are currently on a 3 week road trip. No issues. It's towing great.

I run 1000's on my Expedition. After towing my 24' Cherokee for the first time, I knew immediately I needed the upgrade. Greatly improved that porpoising feel. However, I wasn't sure on the pressure and wanted to make sure, so used 45 pounds-ooops! Now I run at about 35 pounds and I am quite pleased.
Of course, the Exp is still only a 1/2 ton TV: a 2500 Chevy is next on my wish list! Common Santa!

In installed the 1000 kit on my 2014 Ram 1500 and it make a huge difference. I pull a 2019 Wildwood. Total length about 33-34 feet and dry weight is 6950lbs. My Weight distribution hitch is the equalizer E4 set up with the built-in sway control… Ram trucks have the rear coil suspension and anything you put in the back wants to squat the Click image for larger version
