Ok, you air bag experts. Read the instructions and watched videos. What is the yellow thing called in the picture? Guess this is supposed to be removed but what does it actually do?

I just installed the air lift 5000 bags on my 2011 GMC 2500 hd. I was very meticulous and took my time routing the air lines, and the whole install took about 3 hours. I did not have to remove the rear wheels, and I am not sure it would have even helped...I worked around them to install the bags over the axle and most of the rest of the work is done underneath the truck.

I must say that everything fit perfectly...very high quality kit, good instructions, and no grinding or drilling (for non-5th wheel).

I filled the bags with 30 pounds (no compressor) and went for a ride...pretty dang rough empty. i have not had a chance to tow with it yet, but will be towing next weekend.

Anyway, I dropped them to 10 pounds the next day (let them sit over night and still had 30 pounds-no leaks...hurrah). Took a drive with 10 pounds and still rode pretty rough...jarred the heck out of me on rough roads.

Dropped the pressure to 5 pounds, and the jolts over harsh bumps were still way too hard to take. I tried 3 pounds and it was still an awful ride.

I know many folks say they ride good with 5-10 pounds of pressure, but it does not work on my truck....

I left all the air out and it rides like before the install, of course. I know they recommend 5 pounds of pressure, but I cannot see how the bags could be distorted or trashed. They just sit there. Actually, there is air in them, just no pressure. There is nothing for them to hit on, and I do not do any off-roading

I have read several posts on other forums where guys have run zero pressure without issues....guess we will see over time.

I am looking forward to towing the first time with them....will let you all know!

My install was equally as pleasant. I didn't remove my wheels or jack the truck up. We found 55psi to be good going down the road with the 5er, and I run 5psi when empty.

I found my very easy. Never took the wheels off the truck. With installing the compressor and gauge it took about 2.5 hours including cleanup. I preassembled the bags prior. I run about 30 in mine all the time and about 50 towing. I also have a 2.5" leveling kit in the front of the dodge. Rides a lot better with the bags.
