Airbags

Anyone seen or heard of, or know if this exists? Was wanting an air bag kit with built in compressor that has a utility line so you can use the compressor for bike tires, rafts,TV tires etc.

I already have air bags installed on my rig.

What I plan to do for a compressor is to install a 12v pump as well as a 2 gallon or so reservoir tank for it. Off of that I will plumb in a connection for a air hose to connect through the bumper of my truck...

I plan to have a short hose for filling my bags off of it as well as a longer one so i can fill truck tires, trailer tires, toys ect...

You don't need airbags to have the capability to air tires and such. There are a lot of options for that. But if you need, or want, airbags to help level your truck, then it can be advantageous to get the compressor with the airbags and then get an air reservoir tank as avolnek is suggesting. A typical compressor for airbags may not be sufficient to air truck or trailer tires, but would probably be fine for bike or even ATV tires. The tank would help tremendously for other vehicles. Any airbag kit can be made to accomodate a compressor and tank. It's just a matter of hooking it all in.

I installed a Viair 10007 Onboard Air System and love it. I can adjust the airbags on the fly and air up anything I need to. Here is the write up. http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...led-35846.html

Ok air bags installed....couple of questions.

1) In regards to setting up the wd hitch I wanted to confirm I need to level out the truck and trailer WITHOUT inflation correct?

2) utilizing the air bags to achieve unloaded rear height of truck or how much to inflate?

Installed airlift load lifter 5000, in 2009. Bags developed pinhole leaks this year. New ones being shipped right now under lifetime warranty. I have wireless air with onboard compressor with 120 psi rating. Can use it to pressurize anything with a hose to fit the Schrader valve in the rear bumper.

Dependent on MFG of bags they have a (Min.PSI) requirement to maintain. When I used Bags I would (Hook up and then Air Up) to Level. Youroo!!

We don't have the air bags, but do have a onboard compressor that serves 2 purposes right now; air chuck installed in the running board for uses that you mentioned, and the train horns. May add air bags later. It is indeed very nice. We have a 50' air hose in the truck, so I can adjust the trail air hitch, all tires on vehicle and fifth wheel, plus air up bike tires and toys. Wouldn't be without it.

Correct!

Setup the truck and trailer first, and use the air bags to assist the w/d hitch if needed! You may or may not need to depending on what you are hauling.

When I have just my trailer attached my w/d hitch does a fine job, but once I start adding things into the bed I begin to squat more and more. My reasoning for adding air bags was because I installed a leveling kit on my truck, so if the rear end squats more than a half inch it begins to go nose high.

Stay safe!
