I had a service manager @ a FORD dealership tell me back a couple of years ago that they were seeing a lot of engine damage do to K & N Filters ???

As for dust, we have a home in the upper mid west where you might not think dust is a problem. But drive through a construction zone, down a gravel road, or worse, follow behind someone down a gravel road and there is plenty of dust. There is dust crossing the roads when the farmers are working the fields. If you have to wash your vehicle regularly, it's because of dust. We had a farm tractor overhauled and the mechanic did not attach the air filter to the carb properly, leaving a very small leak at the connection. Dust ruined the motor in less than two hours.

You may also want to talk with DW before investing. This air cleaner howls loudly. If your pulling the TT, it will be howling a lot. It was difficult to hear each other when accelerating, pulling a hill, or on any downshift when accelerating. The only time it was tolerable was at idle. When we bought a new truck with standard air filter, we really appreciated quiet. Life is good.

There are a lot of gimmicks out there purporting to give improved gas mileage. To verify the torque and HP hype, you would have to put it on a dyno. The folks here are giving you their best advice having had one. Not one of these posts has been favorable.

In regard to the pistons clapping when it is cold on my 1997 Yukon V8 I think I will go for the syntetic oil but what grade that you recommand?
I have 160K on the engine and I always use regular 10W30 with somme aditif.
I use it mainly for pulling my Palomino S21 hybrid.
Thank you.

The engine clearances dictate engine viscosity. Too thick of a viscosity on a tight tolerance engine is just as bad as too thin a viscosity on a high stress situation like a diesel. Stick with the viscosity recommended in your manual or posted on your oil cap to be safe.

Synthetic oil can be recycled, thus may be cheaper. You can't go wrong with a good grade oil such as Mobile 1.

Synthetic is great and doesn't break down, but it does get just as dirty(silicon in oil analysis) as dino oil. For extended change intervals, a centrifuge or 1 or smaller micron bypass filter is essential. A stock filter is 20 to 40 micro. Changing the filter will not remove the small stuff. Oil sample is the only way to know the condition of the oil. Periodically, they'll add a little fresh oil, usually filling the bypass filter is enough, for refreshing the additive package.

If you are not aware of the quantity of oil required for the 5.7 Hemi, check your owner's manual. I believe it is 7 quarts, but as I said, make certain because overfilling is as bad as not enough.

Amazon carries Mobile 1.

It was 85 and a shower in FL. The band of really heavy weather is north of us. But the 2500TS is probably under the same pile as yours. It won't be long now!
