All you 5.7L Hemi Owners, Synthetic Oil?
Has anyone with the 5.7L Hemi made the switch to Full synthetic? Did you notice any improvements in temperature? Is synthetic really worth the extra money? Mine is a 2013 with 30,500 on the clock. How about any of you other V8 gasser owners?

Mobil 1 only for mine! I switch to full syn after the first oil change in all my vehicles, Hemi or not. To me it's worth it. All the mechanics I know say the same thing.

I made the switch at about 25k miles on my '14 5.7L.
Haven't noticed much difference in temps. Can't really say if it's worth the extra $$$ or not. I do it myself so it's not really that bad buying in bulk.

Started using about 10 years ago. About a wash as price goes travel a few more miles on oil changes compared to non syn. I also change my own. Later RJD

It is absolutely worth it. I am a technician you can definitely tell a difference on the internals of the engine. I did a head gasket replacement on that was severely overheated that had 280k of synthetic use and you could still see the cross hatching in the cylinder walls from the factory assembly. I run Amsoil in my diesel and also in my navigator and all lawn equipment.

03 hemi here I've used mobil 1 for most of the time for the same reason most have posted,most mechanics I've talked to swear by it. So far so good 150k on it with 6-7k intervals between oil changes.

Full Syn.
I have a 2011 1500 5.7 and run full syn from the beginning. I also have a 2004 Harley that was stuck in traffic when new. It came with regular Harley oil. Was a hot day. When I got her home and pulled the oil stick it was black and smelled like charcoal. Switched over to amsoil and never will go back. Things cost too much to scrimp on a few bucks.

I've been running Amsoil in my 2000 Tundra, V8 since its second oil change (being as how the first change was free). It has over 205,000 miles on it now; doesn't burn or drip a drop. Change it out once a year whether it needs it or not. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

full synthetic oil, usually Mobil 1 but also use Castrol 5-30 full synthetic for at least 10+ years on all my engines... I change at 10K miles or 1 year whatever comes first. I have 170K, 190K and 198K on my 3 vehicles all without mechanical problems. Going from a 3K oil change to 10K is a wash as far as costs involved as I also do my own oil changes.

I have been running Mobil 1 from 0w-20 to 10w-30 in everything I own. Yes it's well worth the extra money. I don't know ram trucks but you having a 2013 I would be surprised if it didn't come with synthetic.

Dodge has had some problems with oil sludging in their 4.7L and 5.7L engines. More prevalent in the 4.7L. The company has failed to acknowledge it is a Dodge problem and blame it on lax owner maintenance. This is even though the owners could show proof of proper scheduled maintenance. The dealers are blaming low grade oil and filters for the sludging.
We used synthetic oil in our 2002 Ram and didn't have any issues. However, because of very poor gas mileage, the sludging issue, and cracking dash covers, we didn't keep it too long. We have been using synthetic oil in every vehicle since the Ram and have had no mechanical failures. And, we do a good amount of hefty load towing.
There are a lot of 4.7l and 5.7L motors out there without problems. Two of the best motors out there. But put the odds of a $7,000 repair bill in your favor-go with synthetic.

I have a 2015 crew cab,410 rear end 6.4 Hemi that pulls our Flagstaff 5th wheel just fine. It is a requirement to put synthetic oil in this truck. No problems in 7,000 miles knock on wood.

Switched to gastrol syntec at 15k on my 06. It has 167000 on and I just sold it. It's running strong, was able to still tow my 9k trailer like it was nothing.

I used Mobil 1 in my 2010 Ram 1500 5.7 since the very first oil change....so, I can't really address any changes in running temps. Bought a 2015 Chevy 2500HD last year and have done the same with this truck. I really believe the synthetic oil is a necessity when towing, but that is just my personal opinion.

Just as info to defend the regular 10w30 I used Havoline in my original 71 454 Chevy. When I did a rebuild on the engine after 72000 miles you could eat off the inside of the valve cover as that is how clean the engine was.  Later RJD

My my Yukon 1997 always make like piston claking when it is cold since day one .
Would the problem fix. if I was using syntetic oil?
I have now 160 k

Common problem. I don't think there is a fix for it.

I run Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Synthetic 5w-20 (from Wally) since 1k miles. I also added an oil catch can within two weeks of ownership. I now have about 11.5k miles and the catch can is only now just barely showing oil in the bottom of the sight glass. I did a good break-in 
On my 2008 Chrysler Aspen Hemi we bought second hand, has used about a quart of oil between oil changes (no leaks). I run Valvoline 5w-30 High Mileage dino in her. No issues with MDS. Running great at 117k miles and is my backup tow pig to transport my TT from storage to home and back about 1 mile round trip
I'm considering running 5w-30 in the hot summer months.
