I'm looking forward to answering that exact question. Just have to get my Andersen delivered.

Thanks Doug. Again, I'm not against them. Not arguing. I just have no knowledge of them, and my intuitive self says mine is better. Maybe it's not, I just need info. I do get that new owners say they like them. But 99% of the reasons seem to be 'ease of removal', which has nothing to do with why I buy a hitch.
Please keep us posted.

I have and use one and am happy with it. I have towed 15395 miles with it with no issues but............ I'm not a hitch salesman so I won't tell anyone mine is better than theirs. Neither will I research ALL other hitches so I can publish what I believe to be their deficiencies. I think I have better uses for my time. The main reason I chose this Andersen hitch was to give me some payload relief. At this point in my journey, I believe I can accurately state "I will never tow with another kind of hitch" but that's because I plan to die before I see the need to upgrade/downgrade/change my hitch. Check back in a few to see if I hold to that.

Totally understand- I feel the same way. I’m honestly a little nervous about the Andersen and can’t wait to see/fondle it in person!

And this statement right here is what highlights the decision we all have to make. Each of us needs to do our own research and make an informed choice.
As an aside, do you drive a Ford? Just wondering because I drive a Ram and my guess is that we would both look at trucks differently also.

Thanks to all who responded with answers on the Andersen. Much appreciated.
All I was looking for were reasons why you have them.
For me, forums like this one are a good place to get information about things for which I've not been able to put my hands on and experience personally.
Statements such as "it's the best out there" or "no need to look any further" without some kind of reasoning doesn't help anyone trying to make a qualified decision, hence my query.
It does surprise me though why so many folks get their dander fluffed when asked about their decisions. There was a thread a while back with similar results about Yeti coolers. Everyone who posted "loved" them but no one said why. When I asked, many of the responses were not facts as to why they liked the cooler but more so, "Why do you even ask, (how stupid can you be) it's the best cooler made!"
Anyway... moving on...

hutchman,
It's clearly stated in my signature I tow with a Ford... but you knew that and I won't go there.
Out of consideration to the OP, please don't turn this thread into something other.

There are numerous videos on YouTube about Andersen. Here is one of someone doing a review of it.

I needed some technical information on my Anderson installation.
I emailed them.
A knowledgable, competent technical person called me the other day.
This is rare today. customer service!
Unbelievable today. I was impressed.

Just a quick comment. The Companion is an excellent hitch. I towed a 19000 lb 5th wheel and chose the Andersen because of the weight. I was in my 70's and removing a heavy hitch was not in the cards if there was another choice. After about 20,000 trouble free miles I went to a motorhome. So either one of the two will be just fine.

I feel you on the cooler deal... I want a Yeti, but I don't think I will ever pay $500+ for a cooler.
Grills are another "mine is best!" subject.

Just as an FYI, not to derail this any more (so I won’t be posting again off-topic): Folks who use the iPad app cannot see signatures.
(Oh, and good take on opinions versus facts.)

True about signatures not showing on the app within a post.
I'm not sure about the iPad app but on Android using the app, if you touch the forum members name (in a post) it gives you the posters information, including their signature.
