Andersen ultimate 5th wheel hitch
Anyone have experience or comments about the Andersen ultimate 5th wheel hitch, good or bad. Considering one, have a 2014 ram 2500 long bed. Pin box on 5th is a Reese Revolution.

Do a search for AndersEn Ultimate (also spell it incorrectly as AndersOn since some posters do). You'll find several threads discussing both the steel and the aluminum versions. I have pulled a trailer 6457 miles with one and I like it. Mine weighs 75 lbs. (aluminum is less) and sits on a B&W Turnover Ball. My pin box is MorRyde.

An alternative might be the Reese Goose Box.

The Andersen is without a doubt the best one I've ever owned, and I have had quite a few. The price is right, the weight is right, very easy to install and with the ball it makes for a solid connection with no chucking, clunking or whatever you want to call it.

We to have the safety chains even though they're not required here, but you never know when and where a cop decides to give you a hard time when you don't have them.

I don't have the rail mounted version so I can't comment on how well it works. I paid $63 for a set of safety chains from Andersen because I didn't want to have the "IS required/IS NOT required" description beside the highway.

Hitch
Purchased the 32 pound aluminum version that attaches to my gooseneck ball. Traveled the northeast this summer and had no issues. Great hitch and easy to hook up 5ers. This is one of the best kept rv towing secrets.

Anyone know if this hitch would affect the frame warranty on a 2016 Wildcat 314BHX?

Granted, I've only read this in several different forums, but they have said Lippert has expressly said this hitch does NOT affect the warranty on the frame.

Thanks for the quick response.... it's my understanding that the new wildcats don't use a Lippert frame though... can anyone confirm that?

According to Forest River's website, it uses a new BAL NXG Drop-Frame. I have an email into the listed "Sales Team" under Contact US on BAL's website. I will report back with whatever (if any) response I get.

IMO the warranty issue seemed to be regarding the gooseneck adapters that drop the connection point 12 or more inches and providing a force on the rv frame. The Andersen moves the connection a couple of inches but does not change any vertical measurements. The frame is just sitting on the hitch. The offset also helped me get more clearance with my tailgate down which I needed so I could hook up at a angle. Another advantage of this hitch is there is no binding with side angles. It can tilt as much as needed which helps me since I turn my 5er around in a field at my house. I will be interested if anyone finds out what the frame reps will say.
