anderson hitch ?
Does anyone have one of these ? if so how does it work i can't get my head around how chains could distribute weight

I'm guessing it will work well with a set up of under 5,000 to 6,000 gtw.
I really wanted the Anderson but went with equalizer since I was nearing 9,000 gtw and 1/2 tv
But I really really like the Anderson. I'm still going they soon engineer a modified hitch for larger pulls.
Please keep us posted
Follow the directions for install. Can't get technical about explaining the Physics of the WDH abilities, but it does work. Just my belief from research that the seam best at and below 5 to 6,000 lbs.

just watched a few videos said it could handle up to 14000,, find that a bit optimist, mines dry weight is 3990lb l'm going to research a bit more but i think i would really like it.

Agreeed. Rated at 14,000
My comments are, what I determined after resurching and making my own conclusion.
I am pro Anderson. Just not after a certain point of weight or length of TT.

Having owned one I have no doubt it will pull 14,000 lbs. Will it distribute the weight of a 14,000 lb rig? NO. They "sell it" well, but it just will not distribute a lot of weight. Worked well for my 6500lb TT but not with my 8200lb TT. There is friction material surrounding the ball to slow/stop sway had to replace it twice. They have now updated that material but I did not try it. You are not suppose to grease the ball, well the ball itself has a wear spot on it and one in the ball pocket on tongue as well. Had some other issues I don't recall what they were.
There are red urethane bushings that go onto the chains. These act as springs in the way spring bars would (sorta kinda not really). They are very strong, in fact the large washers that back them up, so strong I bent the washers into a cone shape. Due to the pressure applied to the urethane bushings during travel.
Not a fan of the Andersen but people on here swear by them. They will be along shortly to defend it.

Love mine, but as others have said does not transfer weight as well as I would like. Mine has not been an issue, but then I have a heavy truck. Since my TV is a Diesel, making my front end heavy I don't notice the 300lbs of front weight that I lose with my 1200+ TT tongue weight. This I'm sure would be an issue with a gasser or lighter TV. My TT is 34ft and right at 8500lbs loaded

I wanted to love this hitch and I did until I bought the camper I had now and since I sold the hitch with my old camper I was talked into an E2 from fastway and the difference is night and day! The selling point for the Anderson was how easy it was and light weight! The light weight part is true...the easy part not even close!! The Anderson also developed an extremely loud noise when towing and turning...I called the dealer and he said it needed greased to which I replied I was told this was a greaseless system Anyways I know a lot of people like them and I did at first but not now that I am towing with the E2!!

Anderson is OK if all you want good sway control, and just want to lift the rear end of the tow vehicle a little bit.
But if you actually want to do the job of a "Weight Distributing Hitch" and actually redistribute a proper amount of weight to the front axle, stay away from the Anderson.

I have an E2 as well just curious if this did a better job and from the replies it does not. guess i'll keep my E2 as it works well
