Anderson hitch

I ran across a video of about Anderson sway control hitch's. Quite the departure from what I'm used to. But it looks quite effective. I'm still trying to set up my staraighline with no luck. Actually broke my foot trying (long sad story of stupidity). Anyone using the Anderson hitch, and what do you think of it?

I have it and like it although it doesn't transfer enough to my front axle.

Do a search for anderson hitch and will come back with a large debate/opinions

Just a suggestion. There are hundreds of threads and posts on the Anderson, in this section.
By doing a simple search, you could get all the info and reviews you'd need, since it has been discussed quite often.

A buddy of mine, a cop, made it for me. I don't know but it may have started out as a T shirt. It is cool though. Thanks. And congrats on retiring :-)

I also have the Anderson hitch, everything they claim in the videos and on their website is correct. I will not go back to a conventional 5th wheel hitch any time soon, just imagine lugging a 200+ # hitch compared to a 75 # one.

Hondaman, if you have enough clearance between the truck and the trailer you could rotate the hitch 180 deg. to get more weight transferred to the front of the truck.

Are you guys talking fifth wheel vs. travel trailer? I thought the OP was talking about a TT but I think cypress is talking about a fifth wheel.

I've got the AWDH and running with the TT in my sig. Does a great job with sway, but I agree it didn't do much for putting weight back to my front axle. I've got a relatively light trailer though so it's not too bad.

I just got the straight line and am trying to get 100% return to the front with no luck (so far). I guess I'll stay away from the Anderson if that's a problem witt them. Thanks for the info.

Hi I hope this post is not to old. I bought a new 2012 V- Lite 30WRLS in 2013 at the time I had a 97 F250 super cab 8ft. bed 4X4 Diesel. I had the dealer install a Fastway E2 hitch. I towed the trailer without any problems. in 2014 I bought a 08 F250 super cab 8ft. bed 4X4 Diesel. The trailer does not seem to be as stable as it was with the 97. I took it back to the dealer to see if the hitch needed to be readjusted because the o8 is higher than the 97 was. They seems to think everything was ok. I still do not feel that it is right. I also get a little motion at about 62 miles an hour. What I'm after is do you folks think the Anderson hitch would be better? I know it would be better for connecting and unconnecting. It is a pain jacking the trailer up after you have the hitch connected to put the bars on.

Sounds like you need to go through the setup and check everything out. You are correct with the taller truck can make a big difference on how much weight is transferred to the front axle
