Knowledge is king! No doubt, it would be awesome to shed a couple hundred pounds from the coupler area. For those that can handle it, the Anderson seems to be a nice option. Just know what you are getting.
Happy Camping. Spring is finally here!

I have no experience using the Anderson system, but I wonder about coupler wear with so much force on the back of the coupler.
If someone has 10,000 miles towing with one of these can you take a picture of the underside of the coupler?

Are you talking about the hitchball and coupler? With the Andersen setup, the ball and the trailer hitch move as one because it has a sleeve so there is no ball wear.

I'm wondering about the little finger that comes up behind the ball to lock the coupler on the ball. The coupler normally takes the load of towing in the steel cup. The Anderson hitch seems to transfer all of the load to the latch. Many of the latches I've looked at don't seem capable of dealing with that stress.

I towed more than 10000 and no problem. Traded up tp a 5er so I cant go back for pics. I will say that is something I checked every trip. Never saw any unusual wear and the coupler was judt fine.

The Andersen website (from what I hear) lists a few specific types/brands of couplers that are not compatible.

Yes, you are correct their are a few couplers whose design is not compatible. Here is the footnote off of the Andersen web site:
"NOTE: Currently the Atwood 88007, 88010, 88555 and 88600 couplers are not compatible with the Andersen WD Hitch (all other Atwood couplers are fine)."
Here's an example of the Atwood 88007, note the ball housing is different:

How did you receive a bulletin? Did you order direct? I got mine from Amazon about June of last year and have never received anything. Just curious.

Well got my first trip using my Anderson hitch I don't know if my trailer would be considered long and heavy 30wrls v lite. 6000 lbs ,600 tongue weight. Anyway seemed to do better on the return than on the way to where I was going, I've got a couple of tweaks to do, need to move the ball down one hole for one. Other than that, very quiet and easy to hook up, didn't notice any unusual wear so far I'm pleased with it.

Don't be afraid to crank down on the chains. Per Jason at Andersen, the actual number of threads showing is not the determining factor. Each set up is a little different. You have to find a sweet spot between too tight and just right. As you already know the closer to level across the board the better.

Connect to the plate using the SECOND link and leave the first dangling.

Move your brackets foward if you have the room. You could even put a stack of washers in front of the nut.

50 pounds of hitch holding 15000 pounds together. That don't add up to me !! I been a machinist for 20 years everything has a breaking point. That being said I like it heavy and lots of steal. Just me not saying its bad or good.

Never heard of one breaking yet. We'll see.

My AWDH didn't break, but the anchor shackle where the chain connects to the plate did somehow. It was most likely improper setup as I had the chains under the plate vs over and out of the way, coupled with the angle and steepness of the site I was coming out of. Andersen was great though. Sent me a new one even though I could've gotten one from the hardware store. Still love it.

Always thought they were undersized. I bent the washer into a cone shape.
