Anderson Weight Distribution Hitches
Any feedback or opinion on the Anderson weight distribution hitch technology? I like the light weight concept. Seems like a good product, just curious for others opinions.

We needed a new hitch last year and in the fall and after my wife was doing the research we got an Anderson. At first I was really skeptical about the anti sway and real weight distribution of the system but after several weeks of YouTube videos and information about the system, including from the RV dealership, we bought one online. We've used it several times so far, it was fall after all in North Idaho and we have not gone out yet this year in our new Wildcat 28RKX. Towing is so much better than it was with our old Reese system and we are Anderson converts!
It comes with very good documentation, and there are the set up videos we watched several times online, it does come with the socket for adjusting the tensioners when setting up, but after the first setup on the truck and trailer which does take a bit of time to do right, hook up and unhooking go pretty quick. I also like the no grease mess with the Anderson that the Reese always had. We'll be sticking with Anderson for this RV application and with our 2004 Chevy 4X4 crew cab duramax.

Used the Andersen WDH on my 2012 Kodiak 242RESL (7000# loaded), 600-700# tongue weight. Ran with it for about 3 years until I traded trailers for a 5th wheel. It worked great and I recommend it without reservation. As previously said, it comes with the special socket used to attach the large chain bolts, I would add to that go get a Harbor Freight 1/2in. Torque Wrench. They run about $20 and they make a nice addition to the Andersen WDH kit. You can leave the chains attached after the initial install if you like (a lot of people do) or you can do like I did and just removed them and stored them in the trailers storage bin. They are quite easy to put on and take off.

I love mine for towing my 6,500 lb (loaded) TT. For distribution, I am still not sure about really heavy tongue weights. I do know at a 800-850lb TW it works really well. Sway is certainly no worse than the E2 that this replaced or my experience with The Equal-I-zer. It is totally silent compared to my past experience with either of those hitches.
I chose it mostly because of the light weight of the system itself. It shipped less than 55 lbs. There are no heavy bars or chains to store (unless you want to) on site. You just loosen the nuts, pull the pin and drop the bracket. Replace the pin and you are off in the tow vehicle.

Just curious... Is anyone on here using the Anderson hitch with a Ram 1500 Crew Cab (hemi) and say a TT with about 900 +/- TW? I currently have the Fastway E2 and like it but was curious if the Anderson Hitch would be better... Thanks...

Just ordered one yesterday. Expect to take delivery of a 2015 Hemi Lite 272RLIS on Friday. Towing with dodge 2500 diesel. Only issue I've heard about is inability to return front end to normal height. However, don't expect to have this issues as I have firestone ride rite bags that I know will raise rear if necessary. I bought the Anderson primarily for it's claim to reduce bounce and its light weight. We'll see if I made a mistake or not.

I used one for a short time on an SOB before getting a 5th wheel. Truck is a 12 Ram 2500 CTD. TT had 900+lbs for tongue weight. I really wasn't to concerned about weight transfer with the Cummins in front. The front only came up a little less than 1/2". I just cranked the neoprene cushions to the Andersen specs and called it good.
Ride was really nice. Previous hitch was a greasy noisy EQ. The Andersen gives a smoother ride than the EQ and sway control is just as good.
JMO but for 1/2 ton usage tongue weights need to be in the 6-700lb range. Too much squat with the soft rears and the lighter front ends so way more weight transfer is needed. The Andresen has a hard time transferring weight in the 900lb range.
Nice thing about it is that it looks really nice. Way, way lighter than the standard WDH. No bars to deal with and no GREASE. Plus it's silent. After pulling with the EQ for 2.5 years and then getting the Andersen it was so nice to not hear the creaking and groaning of the EQ.

Agree, your comments about the lighter TVs is exactly what I've been reading. So as you I'm not worried about the front end issue.

I just set my trailer and truck up last weekend with a Andersen. I have a 2013 F-150 Ecoboost with the max tow package pulling a 2012 Forest River Surveyor Select 264. I took it on a short run on a very windy day. Seems to be really nice. Will have a longer trip coming up soon.

Set up the Anderson hitch on my 14 Sierra then towed the 31 foot Windjammer to the Smokey's from Michigan. The best the TT ever towed even had to lock up the brakes once.

X2 on weight distribution..seems best under 900#. I am at 600+ with 4 threads. Puts about 200# to the steering axle
Very happy with mine. Over 12,000 miles last year, and atleast 25 hook/unhooks.

You should not be trying to raise the rear back up to stock. You should be trying to drop the front back down to stock. Raising the rear end back to stock would likely overload your front axle, so don't worry about that.
If you have any front measurements, that would be awesome!

Been considering switching for about a year now. I haven't pulled the trigger, however. Maybe I'm misreading posts about the Anderson Hitch... But doesn't it seem that the guys that are having no issues and saying "works great for me" seem to mostly all have a 3/4T and up?

Exactly... I'm the same way I would like some feed back of those that have it with the 1/2 ton truck and around 900 ish tongue weight. My trailer fully loaded would be 8600 lbs.. Seems like most that have it of at least post have the larger trucks..

It took me a while to get dialed in as the brackets kept sliding on the frame I believe because of my 950 TW. Once I added supports for the brackets, it was easier to drive as more weight was put back on the front axle. Probably because each time I hooked up something had changed on my set up. I am a happy puller now- but I also added sumo springs to the rear for extra support.
