Welcome dretired.

9600lbs of what? The Ford engineers do not assume you will be towing a TT that acts like a sail, have a huge frontal area and requires a 10-15% tongue weight to help with the sway. Your truck cannot tow 9600lbs of TT.

I should add that you might want to open a thread for yourself that asks this question.

Hey - look at that. The mods are up and at 'em early today. Good job.

dretired -
With regards to the question, "Do i have enough truck ??". You are probably fine, but just to make sure, could you provide some more information?

What is your ford's GVWR, cargo cap, vehicle weight and weight of all the passengers and cargo you carry in the bed?

What is the weight of the loaded trailer?

Since "dry" weight is a totally useless number please do yourself a big favor and forget that number. If you do not already own the trailer look in the brochure and get the trailers GVWR. That number will give you a close idea of what the trailer can weigh loaded ready to camp.
IMHO you need to stay under about 7000 loaded ready to camp or you might be disappointed with the performance.

According to Ford you do:

http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/g...vF150sep09.pdf

With a 6300 lb dry weight, even with 2000 lbs of optional equipment and cargo, you would be at 8300 lbs, leaving you with a 1500 lb cushion for anything in the truck. Unless you will traveling very heavy, you are good to go as long as the hitch weight, passengers and cargo in the truck don't exceed the GVWR.

This question always gets mixed answers. But it goes way beyond that single tow rating number. You need tongue weight of the trailer when loaded, truck payload, front GAWR, rear GAWR, tire ratings etc. to make an informed decision. A half ton with a tow rating of 9800lbs but a payload of say 1500 which is normal cannot safely pull a trailer even close to 9800lbs. as that 1500lb payload must include you trucks fuel, passenger weight and any cargo you have. Not saying you cannot do it but the question is should you do it.

Here is the 26RLSS and that is a big trailer for that truck.

Dry Hitch Weight700 lb. (318 kg )Unloaded Vehicle Weight6,170 lb. (2,799 kg )Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)10,860 lb. (4,926 kg )Cargo Carrying Capacity4,652 lb. (2,110 kg )Exterior Length31 ft. 3 in. (9.5 m)Exterior Height11 ft. 1 in. (3.4 m)Exterior Width96 in. (2.4 m)Fresh Water Capacity51 gal. (193 L)Gray Water Capacity84 gal. (318 L)Black Water Capacity32 gal. (121 L)Awning Size21 ft. (6.4 m)Tire Size15
