Unwise, as it is really not strong enough for over about 200# tongue wt and a utility trailer. IMO
I might move your trailer around a parking lot or similar, but I sure wouldn't tow it on the highway at speed.

You likely need a wdh and sway control anyway.
Some states require it.

Why is it unsafe?
What's the spec from the mfgr? I run a 4" rise ball mount from Reese or Tow Ready (same company) that has a rating of 1000 lbs weight carrying/10000 lbs tow weight. My tongue weight is about 515 lbs.

Those two balls...
...could be the start of a sway prevention system...

I do not know but I would not do it, that dog looks like he getting ready to grab a ball. and the other look to take it away from him.

I think we need more info before drawing conclusions. What is the ball shank diameter? What is the rating on the mount? What is the weight of the trailer and it's tongue weight?
I used something similar for pulling a Nash TT, but the 2 5/16" ball and Reese hitch was rated for it. I also used a weight distributing setup.

Exactly. Surface rust is not a problem and that sure looks just like surface rust.

I have a Mini Lite 2104S. TV isa 2012 F250 extended bed. I have a 4" rise reese ball mount. Had some reservations about the amount of rise thinking that with that much lift I as asking for problems. Called Reesetalked to en engineer gave him the spect: 2 5/16 ball with a 1" shank. My tounge weight is 435#. Cap of the mount and ball 500 tounge cap total wieight is 5000. He said all was OK. STill did not feel comfortable. Bought a new ball mount with less of a rise and a higher cap. Don't need problems on our way to Goshen.

No,remove the one that is sticking out the Back, you could hit your Leg on it! Then cut some of the plastic away from the area around the Bumper ball for more clearance! Youroo!!

I straight balled an old 80s camper back in the 90s, but I was using an F350 dually at the time. Of course, I didn't pay attention to weight ratings back then, either, so I could have exceeded one or more ratings of the ballmount/ball/hitch w/o WDH etc. If none of the ratings are exceeded and it tows fine, then go for it.

I imagine it will hold....but I'd be a lot more comfortable if the welds on that gusset were in compression instead of tension.

Oh poo. I leave my hitches in until I swap for a different one. If someone hits their shin on it.....they need to step the heck away from my stuff. If I hit my shin on it....well, a few cuss words and I'm good. LOL

Doesn't really make much difference, the weld to attach the main bar to the 2" tube is in tension also. Best way to reinforce would be side gussets all the way over the 2" tube on both sides and up to the side of the bar where the ball is. Would put all welds in shear. Would require a socket to remove.

Agreed. With bouncing tongue weight, that gusset will just be the first thing to go.

Thanks guys for all the recomendations...
Like i said.. I am pulling with a Nissan Titan.. 5.6 lt
With a Trailer Hitch Weight 440 lbs and Axle Weight 3,850 lbs
The ball is 2 5/16.. but the Hitch mount that I Put UPSIDE DOWN (Rise instead of Drop) dont know the specs... the reason why I put my POST...
And just to let you know.. I took it for a drive.. got to 45 mph .. and on streets.. and everything went well.. but dont wanna risk it on a long trip...
I used it because I like the level that the rise gives me.. but I think I will just use the straigt one that I have and stay away from trouble...
Thanks to all...

I don't see anything wrong. What the load rating on the tongue? That's what matters.
