you're saying that you can tow a trailer at 70 and semis are allowed to go that fast, in VA?

I have been checking my TV for the area where I get the best MPG without a trailer attached to the rear. I drove at different speeds and checked my mpg while on the interstate on cruise. I got the best readings around 70 mph. I am now waiting to hook up my TT and check it. I think I will get the best between 60 and 65, waiting for warm weather. I told my DW that I thought I would just hook up and drive around to check it, I think she thought I might be a little crazy. Oh well, I will check it on the next camping trip.

Was told that keeping speed at 55 mph is best to prevent swaying. So being new RVers, we are keeping it low. Still cost 2x the fuel

I just drove to Las Vegas and got much better milesage expected with aveage of 20.5 mph (not towing) on the way to LV. I think using the cruise control helped a lot. Almost all of my daily driving is on back roads going between 25-45 mph with a dozen stop signs. My sister had to read the directions for the cruise control but we figured it out.

Leaving LV I ran into strong winds, fog, clouds, and then light rain. This was a short turn-around trip so I was a little tired coming back and took it slower when the road was clear. On the trip home I got an aveage of 18.7 mph.

Will be interesting to see what my towing mph will be on Saturday. Heading out to the beach for a couple of days. Hopefully can use the cruise control again. I liked how it helped keep the speed where I wanted it with downhills.
