are you looking for a camera for rear of tow vehicle, rear of trailer, or a dual camera system? Wired or wireless? Lots more money for wireless.

I bought a wireless back up camera at Advanced Auto Parts for about $140. I installed the camera on the back of my trailer up near the top and put the screen in my truck. It works but not very good. The bulk of the trailer and the distance involved will not allow a clear signal from the camera to the screen. If I hold the screen out the window with one hand it's a little better but it cuts in and out. I've seen some better cameras for sale for $500 or so but I decided to just rely on my mirrors and my wife's friendly instructions. Truth is, I've never backed into anything, never ran over any kids or dogs, and have just given up completely on even trying to use the camera. Unless you're traveling alone always and you look like the guy in Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you will never need a camera. My experience has been this : if you're having some trouble backing into a spot, even at night, in about 2 minutes you have 5-6 guys back there waving their arms and pointing (usually in different directions). This usually pisses the wife off and she hollers real loud "I GOT THIS!"

We have a baby monitor and 2 cameras that I bought for the back of the 5er which works great when I was playing with it. Have now decided I will never use them and will sell all 3 pcs. PM if interested.

We have a Peak wired camera on the back of the 5er that lets me keep an eye on the BBQ pit when I'm pulling it. I purchased an extension cord so the transmitter is in the front of the 5er so I wouldn't have trouble with the picture. Works good. If you just want one for hooking up to your TT, this would work well for that too.

I work on farm equipment, and we sell single and dual camera Voyager kits. Very durable, as they survive on combines and other equipment. Extra cables can be purchased to install on whatever necessary.

No matter what type or brand you buy, make sure you can return it if there is a problem with electrical interference caused by your vehicle. The one I have was worthless when I had my Jeep, but works fine with my current truck.

It's a lot of reading, but there are screenshots of the camera as well as a youtube video I created/ posted for the following wireless camera. It can be bought at Wally World, but can be picked up off ebay for half that.

Several members have this setup and have posted how they have theirs mounted/used. I use mine for aiding in hitching up, have it aiming out the trailers rear window while driving to see vehicles behind me, then can move it to see when backing in to camping spots, as well as use it to align a portable satellite dish when camping. It's all here:

the wired Voyager kits are super clear, have sound, and LED lights. These kits are less expensive than lots of wireless systems, and like I said, survive on farm equipment, so you sure won't hurt it.

An off the wall suggestion (from my son last year).

Use Facetime on Apple phones, one on the back of the truck or in DW's hands. One in the truck. Then watch the screen on the one in the truck as you back up.

If you're interested in the Voyager products, I can get you pricing and info. We typically sell the wireless systems with WiSight, but sounds like a wired setup, may be more up your alley.

For those of you who use a camera to assist in backing up your TT, do you find it significantly improves your skill in backing into your storage or CG site?

get a double din stereo ( if your dash is large enough) with back up camera. the camera mounts to the top of you license plate so easy enough to see he ball hitch. the camera's are nice depending on which one you buy. you can also find a few that will support two camera's. they connect to your reverse light wire but you can toggle them on an off. I bought one and have taken coaxial cable with rca ends to hard wire it through the fiver and connects beside the 7 pole connection.

I know you asked about a camera, but I'm a keep it simple guy. These seem like they would work well.

I use one of these, clear picture. Will work even at back of trailer on bumper 40 feet away with minor interference.

I have these and they work. My setup for the ball socket is curved so they are finicky to get right. Sometimes that one will fall off. The other issue is getting both of them at the right height. I marked the stems with a Sharpy so its a no brainer.

Buy it at Harbor Freight when its on sale for about $10.
