Ball Lube Help

I’m looking for a good grease to put on my TT hitch. I’m pulling a 13’ Wildwood 28BHXL. I’ve been using axle grease but I’m tired of ruining a pair of shorts every time I accidentally rub my ball. I’m also using this on my WDH. Pleas help!

Ditto on what Paul said. This is what we have used for around 25 years. I wipe it off when I arrive and haven't ruined any of my shorts yet!

I spray mine with Silicone spray before every trip, simply wipe it with a rag when camped and exposed...

this is the current brand I am using although I have used several different ones in the past...

Just a light coating works for the entire trip, and when unhooked a simple wipe with a rag on the ball and everything is clean. I don't believe that a coat of grease is needed. Been towing for 35 years and got tired many years ago of greasy balls...

Good idea, better than white or axel grease too.

I have tried silicone spray & it lasted for half a trip. For me it works better on the doors.

LOL... to find out you have to park the trailer and check the ball... at that point you can respray... my towing does not require a layer of grease on my tow parts... no greasy balls for me...

That makes sense, just didn’t work for me. When I parked the TT, the hitch ball was dry with nothing left on it. A white grease might be Ok but I think I’ll try the vasoline this week and see how it works.

Thanks.

True story: My co worker riding with me from Georgia to NC for a sales meeting. We stop for gas and while I’m pumping, I see him walk to the back of the truck looking at my hitch setup. I’m thinking “no way he’s not gonna do it”
Yep he did it. Got a greasy hand out of it. He’s a smart guy but I guess it was calling him to touch it.

I have done this on a few occasions. I generally clean the ball with WD40 before applying fresh grease. One time I had a thought to try WD40 on the grease stain. Applied liberally to the stain and rubbed in. Afterwards used dish detergent on the same area, rinsed and let dry. Lo and behold the grease spot was gone completely when dry. Wife initially pissed but afterwards calmed down. By the way this was done when the stain was fresh.
