Best 5th wheel hitch for 6 1/2 bed truck

Looking at purchasing a 5th wheel. Do I need the best of the best hitch out there? What are your recommendations? Do I need a sliding hitch? I have a 2015 2500 HD

Reese Elite has a full claw surrounding the pin and a full binkley head. A great companion to my Reese sidewinder.

I have a pullrite super glide. I love it. I never have to think about turning sharp or backing up.

I have the B&W companion hitch and love it. Has locking lever that swings instead of pulling in/out and a pin to lock the lever so I know it is latched. Have been surprised at how well the 5er pulls compared to our TT.

I thing the question is do you need a sliding hitch with a 6 1/2 foot bed. Some new fifth wheels have indentations on the front that allow a very good angle turn. My 29re does and I probably did not need a sliding hitch but for the one time I might need it I got a manual sliding hitch.... Have not had to slide it back yet

I have a Rockwood with a Sidewinder pin box therefore do not need a sliding hitch for my 6.5' box. My hitch is a Reese Titan 16K, double jaws, with lifetime warranty.

Have the 6.5 ft bed on our 2500HD and have a slider hitch.....reason being, I have a tri-fold truck bed cover that I let ride propped up on a slant above my TrailAir pin box...even though my front cap has the indentations in it for tight turns, I still get into my bed cover......so, I have to manually slide my hitch 10" to allow for clearance on tight campgrounds.....using a Reese Pro Series 16K.

I've had two different regular fifth wheel hitches and hated them both. There are some newer hitches that incorporate shocks and airbags which make the towing experience much better. However, I'm not getting any younger, and have lower back issues so I didn't want another heavy fifth wheel hitch to take in and out of my truck.
Then I found the Reese Goosebox. Problem solved. B&W turnover ball in the truck, and a Goosebox on the 5er. Pulls like a dream as compared to previous hitches. I'm very happy with this setup. Plus, I have more room in the bed of the truck when towing, and when not towing, the ball flips over and I have the whole bed....even at the campground.
For me, the pluses outweigh a couple of minuses many times over.
2 minuses;
1. Have to add a little air to the Goosebox on occasion, but I carry a small compressor with me, so that's not a problem.
2. I cannot see the ball, so hitching up is a little more trouble, but usually my wife guides me back so I'm dead on when ready to hitch up.

I have the Reese Pro Series 15k in the truck (6.5ft. bed) and the Revolution/Sidewinder on my Flagstaff. I have never activated the Pivit point on the pinbox and have clearance enough. I don't have issues even backing 90 plus degrees into my driveway.

I use a B&W 12" slider in my pickups. Started in my 2007 Chevy and then was able to switch it to my 2015 very easily. I still have both trucks, and with the hitch removed the bed is flat. Both trucks also pull gooseneck trailers, so I like the flexibility of the B&W hitches.

I have only used the slider once and I pull a 42' 5th wheel plus a generator bike rack setup. Nice to know I can slide if needed

I've pulled something like 60 or 70k miles with the SuperGlide Hitch and highly recommend it. GMC 2500HD 6.5' bed and a Montana 5th wheel which also has the cap indentations for a short bed. Fair number of time I would have gotten by with just the indentations, but I can think of at least 3 occasions when nothing short of a full 90 degree turn was absolutely necessary, and not doable without a slider. Wife had me get the fully automatic SuperGlide, a $1200 premium at the time, over a manual slider. She asked if we really wanted to spend $55k on a custom ordered coach and then risk it on an unanticipated, hasty and perhaps unavoidable turning maneuver.

i agree the B&W hitch is the best made hitch !!!!!! This comes from a 40 year truck driver, very well made.

I had 3 B&W sliders put in my f250 a and none of them worked like they should. B&W gave me a refund and I bought a Demco Hijacker slider and love it.
I have used a B&W hitch that didn't slide and it worked great.
